Waiting For Ted caught my attention immediately with its cracking, eye-catching cover and a synopsis that made me feel as if I needed to read this book as soon as humanly possible. My IG pal, @booksbethanyreads was on hand and eager to experience it with me so we buddy read it a little while ago. I’m so glad we did. This is one of “those” special books - the ones you need to talk about with a friend who is experiencing it too, right at that moment. This is primarily the story of Rosalind/Rosie. She has a incredibly controlled, perfectly instagrammed lifestyle that involves her being the best housewife and wife to her husband, Ted. Rosie has been used to getting what she wants, coming from a family with a lot of money to spare but when she spends money on the ultimate chaise longue, purely to show off on Instagram, Ted begins to worry about the lengths she is going to in order to portray her so-called happiness in their relationship. The story is told over a single evening as Rosie reminisces over her relationship with Ted, the friends she has lost along the way in her quest for perfection and her determination that the chaise longue will fix everything in her life that may be a tad wobbly. I can say no more! This is a short, sharp, sumptuous shock of a book that can easily be devoured in one or two sittings and in fact, I highly recommend reading it this way. The reader very quickly becomes absorbed in Rosie’s story, especially the more questionable moments where like myself, you may find yourself either groaning at her antics or sympathising with her plight. I can also imagine getting a lot more out of this book on a re-read and it’s definitely something I plan to do. Once you read THAT ending - you’re going to want to go back and start all over again!
