East Cape: Lake Waikaremoana to Wairoa In the morning, I headed to the next walk: the Onepoto caves. Back when the landslide formed the lake, it also caused all these huge rocks under the surface to start moving around. I'd seen a couple of formations on my way up to the lookout, but this track was laid out to go by the largest number, where they'd joined to form caves or the ground had sunk under them. A lot of the caves turned out to be tunnels, some of which you could get through and some of which you couldn't (turns out water sinks down to the bottom of caves and some of them get very muddy!) it was a good walk, you ended up back on the road further down but there was a shorter path back on the other side so you didn't have to go all the way back through. I went on a little bit further and found the start of the great walk. By this time I wasn't quite ready to hike all the way up the hill, but I did a short track out to another, smaller lake. It had amazingly clear reflections since it was so still, but the bush was too thick to walk around it so all you could do was reach the end of the path and have a look. Then it was time to leave the lake. I'd driven up there pretty quick because of the weather, but it was a super clear day on the way back so I took it a lot slower, stopping as often as I could. It's a beautiful drive through the hills, mostly alongside a river that was a clear blue, regularly passing over Rapids. The road also went by three power stations, as part of a hydroelectric system that starts with Waikaremoana and then runs water through all three with a series of lakes at different altitudes in the hills. The autumn colours (I think of imported trees? Haven't noticed any native trees losing leaves) were fantastic, the lakes were beautiful and the drive was fantastic. I made good time back to Wairoa, so headed through the town to check out the beach, another long black stone beach with crashing waves and no people to be seen, alongside a river estuary.

Keith Pegram, Te Kapu Apiaries During the course of 2019 and then again during the post-COVID lockdown part of 2020 I had the pleasure of working with Jo, Ella and Keith Pegram of @tekapuapiaries in Frasertown, Wairoa alongside the multi-talented team including Sam, from @thejamconsultancyinc , Aimee from @connectplusnz and George from @blackdogdesign Te Kapu were updating their brand so needed new photography for their website, social media and other marketing channels. SCP's work included capturing the team whilst at work tending their bees, collecting and processing the honey and then towards the end of last year photographing their range of honey products ready for the new online shop. Check out Te Kapu's website and online shop here https://tekapuapiaries.co.nz/ to see how SCP's work was utilised on the new website. . . . #tekapuapiaries #Wairoa #hawkesbay #honey #honeybee #marketing #marketingphotography #hawkesbayphotographer #scp (at Te Kapu Apiaries) https://www.instagram.com/p/CL22-acs5Is/?igshid=k1oxdfqtilag
