Here is Kenyan writer and 2002 winner of the prestigious Caine Prize and a number of international accolades, Binyavanga Wainaina. He is the author of a memoir One Day I Will Write About This Place and famous Granta essay How to Write About Africa among many others. Photo was taken a few days ago at his house in the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya, within conversations about writing, culture, language, and other contemporary issues around the continent, along with copious supply of mandazi, cigarettes, and tamarind juice. Also present, as the star of the evening, the lovely aged dog - Tony. The conversations went from one interesting topic to the other that I forgot to turn on my recording microphone which I'd brought along specifically to document our conversation for a future podcast/publication. And for this careless reason, the pleasure of this talk will remain only mine, alas.
