So here are some thoughts I've had throughout making Zipidabap that I just have to talk about:
Disclaimer that very few of these that are mentioned will actually be spoilers for the final chapter, mostly because they've already been explored in chapter 2.
-M/C//Y/N//Reader feels extremely alone and isolated.-
That's a given, but that's the primary reason they actually allow Zip to get as close as she does to them. Their parents, as already mentioned, aren't abusive in the sense of throwing empty beer bottles or whatever, they're just flat out irresponsible and neglectful.
On top of their friends just not really being smart enough for the teachers to accept, that ends up leaving M/C in such a position that it feels like it doesn't matter if they actually make a connection to someone or not, they'll just end up with the rest of them.
It's nihilistic and pessimistic, sure. But given literally everything else that has happened to them it doesn't seem too unfounded on their part. They'll try, they're still scared of dying, but it's hard to make friends when all of them keep getting killed.
But, you know, loneliness can get so suffocating that it can feel like you'll die sometimes. So when someone shows up and offers you company, how could you possibly say no?
Even if you convince yourself that you're not really friends, if they just don't leave you alone, who knows?
-Zip, Oliver and Edward are friends out of pure circumstance.-
Like, the thing I see the most with other x reader fics that involve Oliver's shit group has them be like, actual friends. But we've barely (if at all) seen them really look out for each other in the actual animation they're all in, they bully the shit out of Claire and that's it.
Zip doesn't really express concern for Edward when he talks about getting attacked by Alice, if you hadn't noticed. Just moreso morbid curiosity. There is more of a underlying reason for that, but you know... spoilers.
It's why my own characterization to them in regards to Zip also relating to the reader in a sense because she know that if she goes to the asshole group with everything that they said to M/C, they'll likely just laugh her out of their fragile friend group. Having someone to confide in is something I think a lot of people take for granted, and some people just flat out won't do it.
Zip being the special case here, because obviously. Zip just having someone there, not giving her pity she doesn't want and actually just being understanding and a person that she's comfortable to be around isn't a feeling she's used to. That's something that will be explored next chapter, so no spoilers.
They all have their pride in common though, so there's something! You just have to... set that aside sometimes to get what you want. What you deserve.
-Zip is NOT misunderstood.-
Like, I know some things I've been doing seems to be leading up to that, but the difference is that she actually has, you know. Emotions. Hence the roof thing.
But the difference is that Zip has a functioning, somewhat stable family, and while her parents aren't there all the time, they are still there and spends time with Zip and Chip where they can, they're just busy. Somewhat identical to the reader (which I'll be referring to MC here on out) except M/C just keeps getting cucked out of life.
The difference being is that if Zip wasn't there, at worst the M/C would have just been relatively awkward and introverted. Now they'll just be something else I won't go into yet.
Zip has a relatively stable life and ended up being a worse person because of her own decisions and actions. She doesn't regret anything she does or is going to do. The very few people she actually lets close to her are the only ones who will actually see her softer side, but everything that you'll see next chapter is very much who's she's going to be and who she is.
In other words, I want to characterize an already evil character by making her more of a piece of shit than she already is.
The final chapter is going to be the longest, because that's when I finally get to explore everything that makes Zip such a dangerous person to be a yandere. I mean, pretty much everyone is dangerous when they have an unhealthy obsession with someone, but the tactics between the entire shit group very much varies from person to person.
My ask box is always open if you have a question about it or just feel like discussing it. I actually encourage it, it's fun giving my thoughts about these kinds of things.
