just for fun: a character profile for my ace, Wei!

I haven't been very active recently, so to reintroduce Wei -- she's my primary agent OC, aka the "ace" of my personal canon!

Some facts about her:

Her full first name is Anwei / 安维, though she prefers to go by Wei in everyday life!

Her agent codename is Waddle! She got her codename shortly after she joined the PSA and invented a device which she named the W.A.D.D.L. -- the Wireless Automatic Decryption Device Lite, which helps to encrypt/decode secret messages out in the field.

Adding on to the above, she originally joined the PSA as a tech recruit! After G's Secret Mission, though, she chose to transfer into the field agent division so she could be better trained in survival / "frontline" situations.

She owns two puffles, Crown (an inquisitive yellow puffle) and Ai (a shy yet bossy white puffle)! The two of them are a handful but Wei loves them.

Wei is,,, not good with social situations, to say the least. She gets slightly better at talking to other penguins as time goes on, but she remains Extremely Awkward if she ever has to chat with folks she's unfamiliar with. She is also not good at dealing with emotions, be they her own or others', lol. However, she has a strong sense of justice and can be surprisingly outspoken/firm when the mood takes her.

She is quite close with Gary, who over time becomes a mentor and sort of pseudo-father figure to her.

Her relationship with JPG began a bit rocky due to a misunderstanding, but they became fast friends once Wei realized that JPG was just as socially awkward as she was lol.

Wei is severely acrophobic for reasons which may or may not have to do with a certain test sled. Her fear is worst around mountains/cliffs.

A certain series of events led Wei to fake her death during Operation: Blackout under orders of the Director (though Wei was very unhappy about this). It was during this time that she adopted the alternate identity "Agent Ace".

A thing I drew for Jetkie Week! The prompt I chose for today was “mission”, so here we have Rookie hoping his BF comes home safe from his latest EPF assignment.

“So let me get this straight,” the suited penguin said slowly.

I’m not, Wei’s brain supplied uselessly. She kept her beak shut.

“You located and broke into a PSA Level 5 High-Security Clearance Server…  because you were trying to fix the internet in the Coffee Shop.”

“In the Book Room, actually,” Wei said in a small voice. “And it was an accident.”

Wei was originally a file clerk for the Club Penguin Times, but joined the PSA after accidentally hacking into one of their computer servers. She started her career as a tech agent and invented the Wireless Automatic Decryption Device Lite (W.A.D.D.L.), which gave her the codename “Agent Waddle” -- but an incident involving a crashed test sled led her to transfer permanently into the field agent division, where she soon began pursuing Enemy No. 1 Herbert P. Bear.

The image to the left shows her 2008-2012 appearance, while the image to the right is her post-Blackout (she got caught up in the Everyday Phoning Facility fire when Herbert attacked, hence the shortened hair and new hat).

But logically, how tf does that work?? Like, with the PSA, at least the Sports Shop was a legitimate shop that actually sold the sports catalogues and such, so that penguins Not in the Know could feasibly have no way of pinpointing that it was anything more than it appeared. But with the EPF it’s completely different. Has seriously no one ever noticed that Everyday Phoning Facility and Elite Penguin Force share the same abbreviation? That their logos are the same shape? That the Everyday Phoning Facility is this huge, empty (at least pre-2013), otherwise useless-seeming building that just screams “I’m obviously a front for something else”?? 

After the 2013 renovation at least it looks like an actual office, but what about all those years before that when it was just this huge ominous room with no apparent function?  Plus if we consider this comic, which looks like it takes place after the 2013 renovation:

they don’t even let the general public use the phones?? (Maybe we can consider that some of the phones are legitimate while some, like the one in this comic, are just a front, but even then, shouldn’t at least one penguin have noticed the Weirdness of it all??)

What about all those times when Herbert very visibly and publicly attacked the Everyday Phoning Facility while loudly announcing that he was going after the Elite Penguin Force?  What legitimate, in-universe function does the facility serve, if any at all??

Do regular civilians ever notice that their buddy spends suspiciously long amounts of time at the Everyday Phoning Facility, often returning dishevelled and weirdly quiet about whatever antics they must’ve gotten into in an otherwise mundane office? If a penguin ever tells their friends that they’ve gotten a new job at the Everyday Phoning Facility, do their friends just accept that explanation at face value, or do they ever go, “ah, so you’re just a totally normal employee at the totally normal, non-suspicious phoning facility down the road, huh? suuuuuuure.”
