Since we have received no confirmation of receipt of our registered packet, I am writing to ask why you haven't answered, and I am curious about what Filius has declared on the watch, or are you sick [and thus not seen him to ask (?)]???
Kate has returned to her duties and recovered quite well again, so from Saturday until Tuesday evening she was with Mama at Manebach, helping on the field.
Re: the cases, I have done all I can, but it is impossible to get anything out of W.M.F. as the whole operation is changed. From what W.M.F. can deliver, I am sending you illustrations of the ones that I like, though not much really as they are so simple. What do you think?
Max Siegel's son, the teacher, has also sadly fallen. Otherwise I don't have anything else new to report, apart from that the peasant woman and her brother, Ehle, have been arrested, but I have already told you that, no? Allegedly for illicit slaughter and hoarding of sugar, flour, liquor, woolen clothes, tires (apparently in part from army supplies), who knows?

Da wir bis heute noch keine Empfangsbestätigung unseres Einschreibe - Päckchens erhalten haben, frage ich hiermit an, warum Du nicht antwortest, denn ich bin doch neugierig, was Filius zu der Uhr angegeben hat oder bist Du krank???
Käte hat ihren Dienst heute wieder aufgenommen, sie hat sich ganz schön wieder erholt, war vom vorigen Sonnabend bis Dienstag Abend mit Mama in Manebach, haben auf dem Felde mitgeholfen.
Betr. des Etuis habe ich mir alle Mühe gegeben, es ist aber ausser W.M.F. nirgends etwas zu bekommen, weil die ganzen Betribe [sic.] umgestellt sind. Von dem, was WMF liefern kann, sende ich Dir Abbildungen, die mir aber nicht so recht gefallen, weil sie sehr einfach sind. Wie ist deine Ansicht?
Max Siegel sein Sohn (der Lehrer) ist leider auch gefallen. Sonst wüsste ich weiter nichts Neues zu berichten, den dass Frau Bauer (Hambums) u. Jhr Schwager Ehle verhaftet sind, hatte ich wohl schon mitgeteilt?Angeblich Schwarzschlachtung u. Hamstern von Zucker, Mehl, Spirituosen, Wollsachen, Autoreifen, u.s.w. (soll z.T. aus Heeresbeständen sein). Wer weiss es?

Hast Du denn nun Deine Möbel aufgestellt?, hoffentlich ist beim Transport nichts kaput gegangen.
