neurosis.
@cuiseul / outside the building, witching hours ( aka weird curfew break ).
kiyongâs camped out from of the building. heâs sitting on a ledge, a cluster of shrubbery at his back. itâs half dead, and the scraggly sticks poke at his back. maybe itâs from the oncoming bursts of cold weather. or more likely, their building manager doesnât seem to rank building management all too high on the list of important aspects of his job. but whatever. itâs not like kiyong cares about the building aesthetic.he does care about those strange house rules though. all it takes is one time breaking them to realize that they come wit heavy repercussions, even if the world of the sane wouldnât believe you for a second.
but kiyongâs now a believer, and at two in the morning heâs avoiding stepping foot into the building. it happens to him often, getting stuck outside at this time.it comes with working the night shift. he tries to schedule it lucky, so he gets home at five. avoids the whole ordeal. but his scheduleâs prone to change, like tonight. so here he is, building up a constant rhythm by tapping his heels against the stone wall behind him. smoking -- a shock that is. his lighterâs still in his hand. every ten second or so, kiyong grinds at the gear and watches flames burst into life.Â
heâs got it set up so it dances too high to be any use to someone looking for a smoke. but he likes watching that stretch of fire. like the feel of subtle heat as it nears skin. itâs a stupid thing to do, playing with fire. near everyone says so. but kiyong seems to embrace all that is stupid. so he continues to slow flick of his thumb and wastes lighter fluid.Â
he has half a mind to try setting that stupid half-dead bush behind him on fire, just see how long itâll burn for when a scuff of noise distracts him. a familiar face follows. sort of familiar, at least. heâs seen him around the building anyway. something of a neighbor. âcome home late or did you leave like an idiot?â kiyong asks him, his lack of attention catching up to him -- hadnât noticed if heâd come from out the front door or from down the street. itâs stupid to go traipsing around at night, but kiyongâs come to realize that some seem a crazed sort of curious with the horror that haunts their building.
so fucking stupid.
he flicks his lighter high and bright again.
