Colic/“purple crying” - super common developmentally and hard on the caretaker! They grow out of it, but it can be a doozy. Just cuddle and sooth and know that it will pass. (Can also be like a reflux issue if she’s spitting up a lot, but usually it’s just the chronic crying)

Thankfully, she doesn’t spit up...like ever? In the two weeks she’s been placed with me, she’s spit up like maybe 5 times and that’s usually if she doesn’t get a good burp in before she passes out. 

Literally nothing is pressing enough to be worth phone notifications from work email. 🤗

Oh it doesn’t give me a sound or a banner, it’s just the little red flag on the app icon, which sometimes prompts me to check it (not always). This time, it was more of a “who the fuck” curiosity aspect since I was about to text my friend about the hockey game and I saw it pop up so I looked and saw who it was from. 

Huh? 65, like total? Or per grade? That's so tiny!

I've had this!! Omgosh it's such a ridiculous Battle! I just remember being like "but he was NEVER supposed to be there...so you can't put him 'BACK'" over and over. I wish you luck and wine.

TUCK YOUR TAILS as you make each granny square. It’s SO FREAKING tedious to go back and do all the tails after the afghan is together. (I say with a blanket I “finished” 4 years ago still covered in tails…heh…). Outer tails can be buried as you join squares, inner tails as you make the first row.

A point system where they earn points each day and enough points = a reward? Are there any carrots they’ll work for? Give them jobs to get control/attention in a good way? Small goals like “stay quiet” each day + like jolly rancher if they do?

I’m setting up class dojo right now (which they’ll probably roll their eyes at, but maybe if I attach it to rewards they’ll get on board?) I was going to try to keep my own point system, but it was a lot to keep track of and I like that I’ll be able to run reports/possibly connect to parents on class dojo.

I think small rewards might be a good start. I talked to last year’s teacher and she said she used food to get and keep one of the girls on board (the other one is coming from a different setting so the pairing is a new dynamic.) But she also said that treats became an expectation and it escalated to the point where she was spending $10 a week just feeding this one specific child. But hopefully if I keep things small and attached to a reward system it won’t go there?

Yep, needs an IEP. Speech is a special service not provided to the regular population. and they're missing regular instructional time for it. Also needs to go through an eval to qualify in the first place...

All my kinders were evaluated by speech last week, my district evaluates all incoming kindergartners for speech. So the student has been evaluated. I think she’s trying to say that because the whole class gets speech stuff once a week, that she can get out of writing the IEP, but this students gets an additional 30 minutes a week.
