#vu tmnt

It’s mostly based off of the 2012 series. While I’ve been a fan since 1990, I found the ‘12 Turtles when I was having a hard time in my life, and they gave me comfort, becoming my favorite iteration of the boys.

I’ve been working on this for about a week or two. It has UV resin and I wasn’t about to kill my battery powered light on a bigger project like this. It’s mostly made with MiniVerse stuff (the resin, turtles, white rocks, and pink pebbles as well as the bowl itself being a ball I painted) but I also added other things that I had like the black aquarium pebbles and the plants. The palm tree was from a faux plant that I deconstructed, cut off part of the flower stalk, and painted to look like the pink palm in the 2012’s bowl when Splinter bought them.

It’s just so cute, and I’m so happy. I need to touch up some of the paint on the outside because I accidentally dropped it and some of it got scrapped off since I didn’t sand it first. But I’ll be sealing it anyway.

And yes, I made each one as one of the boys.

On the left, that turtle’s face was painted crooked and made it look like he has his head tilted up to look at something. So that’s Donatello, and he’s studying the tree.

Raphael is coming out of the water to bask.

Leonardo is chilling in the water but resting on the rock because that’s very relaxing and it looks like turtles are just so ✨zen✨ when they do that, so obvs it had to be him. lol

Michelangelo is going for a swim and having fun.

Wingnut is crunched and I never want to draw him again. 🤣

I was going to do the 2003 versions of the Super Turtles, but I saw their original designs and thought it would be more fun.

Had to do a Nightwatcher. There were surprisingly few good pics of him, so I ended up using the action figure.

Turflytle may have just been a dream 2012 Mikey had, but I wanted him to be included. Sans extra arms because omg space.

I also NEVER want to draw Arachnid-Man again. Jfc 🤣

And finally, Space Heroes. I hope if Leo saw this, it would earn me a kiss. 💜🥰 It isn’t detailed, but the fact that I did his favorite thing counts?

All of the cartoons are great in their own way, and I love them all. But also, don’t forget that while they are teens, they’re ninjas with a lot on their shoulders. Training is necessary, and there need to be limits to how much they goof off. A nice balance, if you will.

But also, the people complain about something being “too mean” or even “disturbing” in past series are missing some of the unspoken things in the scenes. Not everything is spelled out. Watch expressions, and feel them out. There’s more depth than that.

Rise is a great series, but it also spoon feeds a lot more than past series have done, being very obvious in some situations. Characters will speak their feelings out loud. I think that’s why people think it’s kinder, or that it shows more loving relationships. Those elements have always been there in all series, but were never outspoken. Let’s face it, people are like that in real life. Or at least they were more like that at the times those shows came out.

While everyone may have different views on how things are being portrayed, keep in mind that’s how you see it. That’s not necessarily how it was meant to be portrayed by the writers. Even in the comic books, people write in complaining that something was just terrible to them. But the response to those fans is always politely saying that it was not meant to be seen that way, and to please look at it again from a different perspective.

The cartoons are no exception. Just because you may interpret it one way does not make it how it was written to be true. Look at it again, and be open minded when someone shares their interpretation.

Also, since I see a lot of this as well, if the writers/creators tell you how something definitely is, why are you telling the they’re wrong? They literally made it and knew how it was. I see that happening to Tumbr writers as well. People complaining because of how they interpreted someone else’s work and saying the creator is wrong about their own message. Think about that for a minute.

And if you don’t like something? You have the power to look away. Be kind. The world needs kind people more than ever. It’s a sad shortage.

But with Rise having Hypno, I think someone needs to say it. Just wait for him to do something. Anything. Then exclaim, “Holy hippo spit!”
