I think with District V, I would sit everyone down beforehand and explain what meta is in the RP world. Meta, in the sense of RP, is using info from sources that your character wouldn't know and using it to get the upper hand in situations. There were a couple of the Holostars guys who had a really bad problem with meta in their chats, and it was disappointing because they had pins that said meta wasn't allowed, but they didn't ban the idiots spreading meta in the chat. So that is a huge one.

I would also talk to everyone who is going to participate about how to read people's non-verbal cues to something making the player uncomfortable. I watched one of the Holostars guys and an indie for the majority of District V, and (especially in the case of the corpo guy) homie was getting really uncomfortable when a horde of indie/Niji women would crowd around his character. It was weird. It was a really big reason why I personally didn't watch Hakka. A lot of the women in the VU were real big on making players uncomfortable. One of the women on the server had her character try to hook up with a different corpo boy's character and the corpo boy is extremely ace and was very, very uncomfortable and eventually quit the server like a week early because of the women not respecting his personal and his character's boundaries. I found myself watching a lot of a certain demon lord that I don't normally fuck with as he was Chief of Police, and everyone kept trying to hook him up with random people at the end and he had to politely turn people down because he knows his chat would go into a rabid fit because a lot of them are extremely parasocial. Not every character wants to date. Respect people's boundaries and leave people the fuck alone.

In the sense of VTRP, especially after season 1, everyone needs to be talked to about powergaming. I completely understand why Axel decided to not bring Axel Pinkman back. PD had a weird obsession with him that started to feel like OOC hate close to the end. Cops on VTRP also need the no-corruption rule that pretty much every server, even shitty 2 week servers, do. The entire server, especially during season 2, felt like a massive GTA Online lobby with players spawning in RPGs and grenades and whatnot. Arresting someone for the fuck of it because they were outside pd soured me on season 1.

I think I like the way District V did police more than VTRP. It felt like they tried more and had people learn the 10-codes and they had a dedicated police force instead of 2 randoms running around. If you're going to do any sort of GTA RP server, you need a balance of cops to crims to ems, and there was no balance.
