Like, Hermaeus Mora would seem like the choice most aligning with their objectives, judging from Martin's dialogue, but I like to think they weren't quite that foolish enough to ignore the risks in consorting with... at least the more dubiously-presented Princes.

Sanguine, meanwhile... he doesn't seem terrible on first impression. Even compared to the other "fun" Prince, Sheogorath, he would be less liable to flay you on a whim for his amusement. But I like to think Sanguine has made this amiable representation of himself as part of his lure. After all, the you feel fine for the first few drinks; your first experience tripping on skooma feels euphoric, transcendent. The party is all fun and games until you get carried away, you take a dose too much and tip over the edge into a downward spiral of dependence and excess beyond the body's natural limit.

Additionally, his dialogue implies they were likely still Arcane University students by the time they wading deeper into daedrology and Sanguine worship.

They were college kids.

I have a lot to share this week. First off is that very rough Modern!Vera sketch I talked about last week

Probably won't get back to drawing her and Mathieu until after the Skeleton prompt fic, thus I will continue to be unhappy with everything about the sketch until then. But speaking of the prompt, here's another snippet:

I'm tagging myself this WIP wednesday! 💪✨ 1. Because I'm excited to show my progress and 2. I'm planning on clocking out mentally for the rest of the day to recover, this week at work was ROUGH.

The Matt Bellapunk grind continues. Flat colors are basically done but rendering is going to suck balls crazy style. The red hoodie is going to be plaid (based loosely on my own, though mine is white lol), and considering accents on the jacket. Particularly a cutie mark patch on his sleeve, some artistic symbol of death to the DB or something lol Might just pause on shading and bust out a sketch for the Vera companion piece before August.

Some more elaboration! Giving him a punk look isn't strictly for aesthetics; I'm actually using it as a design tell for character in itself. Punk is just as much a philosophy/mentality as it is a style. I think the punk ethos will compliment the narrative for this AU very well and I think it's a good fit for Matt (ngl tho, without going into detail, I do think what Mathieu did to the Brotherhood was quite punk in some ways lol)

That being said, I think Vera will have a more conservative fit in comparison. Something to represent her inner conflict and how she doesn't quite feel that she can truly express herself anymore in her disillusionment with the Brotherhood ;)

Taking a bit of a breather with writing before the next Tesfest prompt, unfortunately today refused to give me the headspace to catch up on other fest fics, but I did start to draw again like I wanted. My self-indulgent Modern!Mathieu Bellamont is officially underway :)

Really rough sketch. Gods know why I decided punk/alternative was the aesthetic I wanted to do when picking back up on my quest of struggling through learning full body, those fits tend to lean towards lots of accessories and layering 🙃 So right now its just me tinkering with different looks for the clothes. I'm not loving the jacket especially. I also need to tweak proportions and his face before lineart. I can't believe the hand is the best looking thing right now...

For more elaboration on what I'm even cooking with this: this is a modern AU of my Oblivion AU, Dark Prodigy, for the sole purpose of exploring the dynamic between Mathieu and my OC, Vera Marie-Lachance, without the pressure of main AU's plot to figure out around it.
