Wherein a male minimises death threats against women by calling it âblow backâ then proceeds to tell a womenâs organisation that has been centering and serving the needs of traumatised women since 1973 that they can fix the issue of male-pattern violence and threats, by allowing males into the service.
How very familiar.
Even more astounding, âthis is a predictable responseâ.
Yeah, we know that, itâs called male-pattern violence. Thatâs the very reason this space needs to remain women only.
Remind you of something??
âLook, itâs really sad you made a poor decision but if your skirt wasnât so short this wouldnât have happenedâ
âLook, itâs very sad that those women got shot but if some of you would just have sex with these men, then they wouldnât do thisâ
âItâs very sad, but fathers wouldnât do this if you just allowed them to have unsupervised time with your childrenâ
Are you seeing it yet?
Women having boundaries and saying no is, for some, an acceptable reason for some males to commit male-pattern violence against us.
People who think this way have no business talking about womenâs rights, they donât have the first clue.
Do you believe that oppressed groups...
1.) Should be able to have words to describe what defines them as a group (such as âautisticâ for autistic people, âgayâ for gay people, etc.), words that describe specific experiences of theirs, terms specific to their culture, etc.
2.) Should have the right to their own spaces, free of their oppressors, or even just specific to their own group (for example, an autistic group / space thatâs specifically for autistic people, as opposed to all neurodivergent people)
3.) Should have the right to their own movement, that focuses solely on the struggles and oppression their group faces (without having to focus on everyone who has related issues, and without having to focus on saving our oppressors from their own system of subjugation)
And would you be appalled if...
1.) People from another group (whether theyâre the oppressor group, or a different group oppressed on a similar basis) ...
Forcibly changed the meanings of all the words the aforementioned oppressed group had, appropriated their terms and every way they had to describe their own experiences and historyÂ
Stole all their spaces, and prevented them from creating any new ones
Took over their movement, and silenced them on anything having to do with problems specific to their own oppression or experiences
Justified this by saying âweâre [name that originally described the oppressed group, that has now had the definition forcibly changed]â and âwe have certain similarities to the struggles you face, so thereâs no need for different words or spaces, but also shut up about anything you specifically experience because we donât experience that"
2.) Anyone in that oppressed group who is angry about this, protests it, speaks out about it, or simply raises concerns about it, asks questions about it, or thinks critically about whatâs going on, is met with ...
Vicious harassment and threats (to self, friends, family, etc.), extreme social isolation, having their resources cut off from them, being told to âkill themselfâ in various horrible ways, being mocked for their appearance, mental illness, sexuality, ANYTHING
Being beaten up
Being belittled and gaslighted about the trauma they experienced at the hands of their oppressors
Having insults and threats and blackmail be related to the specific oppression they experience
Taking away their source of income (anywhere from getting them fired from a job they havenât worked at long but will still be difficult to replace, to destroying a career they spent their entire lives building)
Doxxing them, reporting them to a government that would have them killed or worse, etc.
Sexually harassing them, sending them horrific rape threats and fantasies, targeting their trauma and using it against them in the worst ways
Doing any or all of this to LITERAL CHILDREN
*And if the person in question was even a little rude, they âdeserved itâ and itâs âproof that anyone who speaks out about it in any way whatsoever is absolutely in the wrong no questions asked--seriously, no questions, because anyone who asks them also deserves to be beaten / raped / killed / [insert other horrific âpunishmentsâ here]â
