ok but it was me who sent the thing about ’Ain’t good enough for you’ a few days ago and i think it probably took me some time to find this song too! But it’s such an underappreciated Bruce song??? Sure he has better but the melody is so freakin catchy and the lyrics go so well to it even though. lyricalyy its a quite sad song but the up-tempo makes it’s so happy. And don’t get me started on the vocals!!! I just feel like this song generally is a crowd pleaser and Niall would do it justice.
this is kinda a part 2. But it’s kinda like ’Talk to Me’!! (the promise album sure got some hits) Niall would make a great cover of that one too. I went and saw Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes live a few weeks ago & they did that one and it RAISED THE ROOF. Them, like Bruce, has that power and I can kinda see it in Niall too.
part 3. But I believe something very important to make that magic is a song that, either is a freakin hit and not something only the fans know, or something nobody knows but is a great ”sing along” song if you get what i mean (??) and that’s why I think both ’ain’t good enough for you’ and talk to me are great cover song. Like I said Southside Johnny played ’talk to me’ and I don’t think lots of people in the crowd new that One before the show but after we all went home humming it.part 4. sorry that was all so long but I just had a lot on my mind and had I get it out to someone who at least knew a little bit of what I was talking about. Even though my english is shot when IM on a rant and doesn’t really make sense sometimes🌻🌻🎸
it’s such a great song!! i always love getting a glimpse at the other paths that his albums could’ve taken. darkness on the edge of town has such a tone of resignation to it, to me, and of introspection, and i think ‘ain’t good enough for you’ is a little bit more outward-looking, a little more like the narratives you hear on the river, you know what i mean? like, with the aid of retrospection, it’s so cool to plot the long course of his life! i’m soooo jealous you got to see sj&aj, wow!!! i LOVE ‘it’s been a long time,’ what a damn SONG. i’m sure they must be such a great live band. agh. and yeah, i definitely get what you mean!! one of the best things about live music is getting to experience something once in a lifetime with the other people who are there, so you want it to resonate!! maybe the hits do - that’s why they’re hits, maybe - but so can those special ones that just go OFF. it’s really cool!!! one of my fav forms of magic tbh :’)
