i think this season is so shocking because we simply aren't used to hermits picking the bad ending .
think about it , a server full of people that more often than not , much rather everyone have fun than worry about winning . in most civil wars , there is no serious consequences to failing or losing , but without anyone for viewers to direct hate at , something like the moon is a perfect villian , the hermits can have a bad ending . . they can tell a story without worrying about another hermit getting the short end of the stick because if the role they play .
and so many different roles were at play but there was one main goal , and everyone got the bad ending ,,
