The air here was charged with the power of the Void. Adrian could almost taste it as he continued picking his way along the path. The forest he'd been traveling through had grown dense and dark, but having a clear link to a worn barrier made him gleeful. His steps had a little more hop in them, and he reached out to touch at the grand trees as he passed. If the terrain was better, he might have skipped. He hadn't seen a soul for days, usually, such strange and intense magical energy warned people to stay away - but it was just what Adrian had been searching for.
Oh, how it reminded the lonely man of home.
Deeper and deeper he waltzed, feeling the energy deep in his bones and the familiar whispers of the Void. A few strangely colored patches of undergrowth was a good sign, he must be so close to this leak - the excitement was nearly unbearable.
He did, however, stop dead in his tracks when he heard the familiar crack of a branch underfoot. All glee was sucked out of him in an instant. His gloved hand quickly shifted around the hilt of his currently undrawn weapon, still resting along his belt. For a second, he did not move, and the apparent follower didn't either. The silence stretched on until he turned and searched the treeline more intensely, willing to defend the little patch of nearby Void influence if needed.
