The revelation is that the moment Eve ate the apple she realized she was naked and became embarrassed by it. Adam was there with her when she ate it, the snake spoke to both of them, and where Adam told it no she told it yes. Adam ate the apple so that Eve wouldn’t take the blame fully herself which led to them getting banished from the Garden of Eden.

I hope this is polite! That’s what I’m aware of, however I don’t go by Judaism so I’m wondering if it’s different on your end and very curious about the answer!

The Bible’s wording varies across translations & faith traditions, so what sounds “off” in one context often reflects a different doctrinal framework rather than incorrect information,

For clarity, I don’t use Judaism as a reference base; as noted in my pinned, my framework is primarily the Jehovah’s Witness religion. The confusion might come from the name “Jehovah.” The word itself is a Latinized form of the Hebrew name Yehowah; one traditional way of vocalizing the Tetragrammaton [ YHWH ] which is the divine name of God appearing throughout the Hebrew Scriptures. Jehovah’s Witnesses are a Christian denomination, not Judaic. The name Jehovah has Hebrew linguistic roots, but Witnesses use it within a Christian framework; recognizing Jesus Christ as God’s Son & viewing the restoration of God’s personal name as a return to original, Bible-based Christianity,

Now, before I get into all this & start citing my sources: the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures [ NWT ] that I reference is the official Bible used by Jehovah’s Witnesses, published by the Watch Tower Bible & Tract Society. It was translated directly from the original Hebrew, Aramaic, & Greek texts, using the Masoretic Hebrew Text for the Hebrew Scriptures & the Westcott & Hort Greek text [ with comparison to other critical editions ] for the Christian Greek Scriptures. What [ supposedly ] distinguishes the NWT is its restoration of God’s personal name, Jehovah, throughout the text; nearly 7,000 times in the Hebrew Scriptures where the Tetragrammaton [ יהוה, YHWH ] appears, & 237 times in the Christian Greek Scriptures where translators believe it originally was,

The NWT is a complete translation of the Bible; Jehovah’s Witnesses regard it as accurate & faithful to the original manuscripts. However, many non-Witness scholars & Christian denominations view it as doctrinally distinctive, since certain renderings [ those involving Christ’s divinity, the Trinity, & the use of God’s name ] reflect Witness theology. Academic reviews note that the NWT’s methods are careful in many areas [ in Hebrew phrasing, in particular ] but controversial in others, such as John 1:1 or Colossians 1:16–17,

Regarding Adam’s presence: Jehovah’s Witnesses teach that Eve was alone when the serpent approached her. The serpent addressed only the woman [ Genesis 3:1–5 ] Later: “So she began taking of its fruit & eating it. Afterward, she also gave some to her husband when he was with her, & he began eating it.” [ Genesis 3:6 NWT ] In Witness understanding, that phrase doesn’t mean Adam was standing beside her during the temptation, but that she went to him afterward. Insight on the Scriptures states: “Evidently, the conversation with the serpent took place when Eve was alone. The tempter may have chosen that time because he knew it would be easier to deceive her apart from her husband.” [ Vol. 1, p. 757 ] Adam was not an active participant when the serpent spoke; the account records only the serpent & the woman speaking to each other. There’s no scriptural support for the idea that Adam spoke to the serpent or refused it first; while Adam later accepted the fruit from her, the serpent’s deception targeted Eve individually. This is the first time I'm hearing of an interpretation where he was there when Satan was tempting her!

Regarding Adam taking the blame: When Jehovah confronted Adam about eating the fruit, Adam didn’t take responsibility for his actions. Instead, he shifted the blame onto Eve [ & indirectly onto God ] by saying, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit from the tree, so I ate.” [ Genesis 3:12 NWT ] Jehovah’s Witnesses view this as evidence of deliberate disobedience rather than sacrifice; Adam consciously chose to follow his wife instead of obeying God. “Also, Adam was not deceived, but the woman was thoroughly deceived & became a transgressor.” [ 1 Timothy 2:14 NWT ] Because Adam sinned deliberately, he bore full responsibility, & this act directly led to both of them being expelled from Eden,

Regarding their nakedness: Jehovah’s Witnesses teach that Adam & Eve’s awareness of their nakedness was not about modesty or embarrassment over their bodies, but about the shame that came from disobedience & the loss of innocence. Before sinning, they were naked yet felt no shame, since they were perfect & had nothing to hide [ Genesis 2:25 ] After eating the fruit, “The eyes of both of them were opened,” [ Genesis 3:7 NWT ] — their effort to cover themselves symbolized an attempt to hide their wrongdoing, not simply their bodies. Insight on the Scriptures explains, “They had lost their clean conscience & thus felt exposed & ashamed before God.” [ Vol. 2, p. 485, ‘Nakedness’ ] Likewise, The Watchtower notes, “Their eyes were opened to their sinfulness, not simply to their nakedness. Their physical nakedness had not bothered them before, but now it symbolized their loss of innocence.” [ September 1, 1973, p. 532 ] Their awareness of nakedness represented spiritual guilt & loss of purity; not [ simply ] a sudden sense of bodily modesty,

I also wanted to clarify that when I said “any sudden transformation or revelation,” I meant that in a literal sense: as in, she didn’t undergo any physical change or gain supernatural abilities; she didn’t become a demon or anything beyond human. For what it’s worth, I don’t interpret their shame as being about physical exposure or indecency. That idea never made much sense to me, since modesty or the concept of being naked as “improper” wouldn’t have existed when it was only the two of them. Instead, I lean into the symbolism [ that JWs also use ]: they covered themselves not because they suddenly felt indecent, but because they became aware of their disobedience & attempted to hide the evidence of it,
