#vlog adaptation

Now, something like that occurred again today. In the 13th episode of "Jules and Monty", a vlog adaptation of Romeo & Juliet, set in modern day college; it was 'the morning after' scene between the lovers.

We see the lead, Monty (Romeo) watching Jules (Juliet) sleep as he reflects on the previous night's events. The fight, the news of expulsion, and a moment of happiness with Jules. He wishes he could go back and not get involved in the fight at the party. We didn't get a scene like this, in the original play. So it's nice to see how Monty is reeling from everything. You can see the affection in his eyes as he recites a poem for Jules. Then she wakes up and they say the Shakespearean text very naturally while we see the chemistry between them is so genuine. A part of me forgets they're speaking differently, as I saw them like a couple I would know. After a sweet goodbye and he leaves for a meeting, she wishes for him to return soon into the camera before her brother comes and visit her. We then see that it was her roommate, Nancy (Nurse) who posted the video, due to recent events and she wanted to let others know of her friend's happiness with this boy.

Kudos to Imogen Browder, Edward Rosini, and Evey Reidy for great performances. I've said before that, I am impressed by the commitment to adapting the Bard's work and making it relatable for today's audience. I was anxious/excited to see how it ends. I just wanted to write something; how art in many forms can touch people in a unexpected way.
