How about #20 for Rey from the prompt list, or #16 for Poe Dameron, please and thank you :)
Thank you for the prompt! Imma go with my bae, Rey 😊
20. “You gotta stop doing that.”
She caught herself right before the words ‘you gotta stop doingthat’ slipped from her lips, saving her from having the explain why sherandomly started talking to herself in the hallway. Finn and Poe were ahead ofher, but still within earshot, so she kept her mouth shut and discretely movedaround the large man who stood in her way. They were on the way to a meeting, and she really didn’t have the time to deal with him.
Couldn’t hejust bugger off? Just walk in the opposite direction until their bonddisconnected? But it seemed that it didn’t matter what she wanted, he followedclosely behind her, much to her irritation. Studiously ignoring him, she filedinto the meeting room and took her seat just as the meeting started.
She tried,oh she tried so hard to focus on what General Organa was saying, or the starmaps that floated above them, but she couldn’t with Kylo being so kriffing close to her. She couldn’t see where he was, and he with her,but it appeared that the seat he sat himself was directly across from her. Andnot across-the-table distance, but rather right in front of her.She was surprised that their faces didn’t touch, they might as well have, theywere that close. And he looked utterly ridiculous with hishulking body in the middle of the meeting table. It was absurd. There was noway she was going to leave the briefing with any new knowledge.
Or atleast, knowledge she wanted.
When hisgaze became too intense, she averted her eyes to the holo in front of her, onlyto see the faint outline of Kylo’s lower body through the table’s surface. Shepressed her lips together into a thin line and clenched her fists around herholo. She felt amusement waft from him, knowing the exact source of herannoyance. And then the bastard shifted his weight to one side, legs spreadopen in a lewd fashion with a grin she was positive was on his face. But shewasn’t going to let him get to her. No, no way in hell.
So withoutwarning, she looked him dead in the eye and crossed her legs, making sure toflick her foot as she did so. He recoiled and snapped his legs shut, redblossoming at his cheeks even though they both knew nothing connected.
“That wasdirty,” he muttered, sitting upright to regain his composure.
The tips ofRey’s mouth twitched in response, still refusing to utter a word.
“You can’tsay anything. That must mean you’re preoccupied, and surrounded by people. Iwonder…” he trailed off and leaned forward, making Rey jolt back in shock.
Shedismissed any curious looks sent her way at her jerky movements, and burned hereyes into the table space just past Kylo. She felt a heat bubble in her bellyand rise up her chest and settle at the base of her throat. A few moments ago,he was evidently not influenced by her surroundings, but now as his hand cuppedher face, it was clear that it didn’t work both ways. And it wasn’t him justhovering his hand over her cheek. No, there was a definite warmth against herskin, and then a puff of air against her face when he had the audacity to kissher cheekbone. It was soft and ghostly, and she wasn’t sure if it was from herblush or from his presence, but a sudden heat overwhelmed her.
Her heartraced, pumping more blood and warming her body completely. She forced herselfto remain still as he tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. It was dangerous, whatever he was playing at, and she wanted so bad to scream at him, to slap hishands from her and kick his groin, but she couldn’t. Not without making everyperson in the room look at her. So she sat there, perfectly still andhelplessly let him do whatever he wanted.
“I’m notgoing to do anything to you,” he whispered, seeing distinct shine to her wideeyes. “I would never do that. Rey.” He sounded hurt that she could even think hewould do such things, and she blinked furiously, thankful that the sting oftears faded.
And then heblew at her face, making her nose scrunch. The unexpected action chased awaythe fears she briefly entertained, secretly thankful for the distraction. Sheflickered her eyes to him, as a sort of thank you, and he merely winked inresponse. She let a small smile on her face and rolled her eyes at his antics, whilst internally screaming at her chest to stop throbbing.
“Rey? Issomething the matter?”
She lookedup sharply at her name and shook her head, embarrassed to be called out. “No,Leia. Sorry for the interruption.”
When thebriefing resumed, she peeked from the corner of her eye, expecting to see Kylogrinning at her for getting caught, only to see the polar opposite. His facewas devoid of any happiness, a moisture at the edges of his eyes with his lipstrembling, despite the obvious fight against it. She didn’t need to guess thecause for the change in his disposition.
The starmap above them shifted and small, glittering lights fell over his face, aligning with his moles perfectly. It was beautiful and tragic at the sametime, the sadness and anguish on his face with the star map above him toconstantly remind Rey that he was not there. He was with the First Order, thousands of light years away. He made his choice.
And thatfact alone still hurt.
Her headdropped down with her shoulders sagging slightly, remembering all too well thehope he had for her. I’m sorry, she wanted to say, but she couldn’t, so she didthe next best thing.
With herhand under the table and hidden from wandering eyes, she inched closer to hishand until their fingertips brushed against one another. His hand remained limpagainst his thigh, his eyes wide with fear as she slowly took his hand, hersmall thumb rubbing circles against his own.
It wasn’tmuch, but it was all she could do, until he came home.
“I can’t,”he murmured weakly before their connection broke with a snap, leaving her alonein the filled meeting room, and hand rubbing circles into nothing.
