Carpe Noctem's second album, Vitrun takes all the black metal elements of their debut and pushes them to extremes. It will be released on October 5th 2018 via code666.
A slow moving death march is coming your way that will soon turn into an elite Black Metal Monster of feral power! I am actually speaking the new Carpe Noctem LP called Vitrun that comes out on Oct. 5th via code666. This Icelandic horde has done it again and created a collection of
Kai bumps into Aldderyn. Aldderyn remembers that Kai is a huge asshole and is concerned for Vitrun.
Warnings: None that I can think of.
Aldderyn approaches the red robed figure apprehensively. He takes a moment or two to look Kai completely, hesitantly poking him once to make sure this wasn't some illusion. "So. It's been a while."
Kai Tighe raises an eyebrow when Aldderyn pokes him. "My illusions are solid as well, you know," he says dryly as he looks Aldderyn over. "It has! You're looking well. Keeping yourself occupied, hmm?"
Conall Omalley sits himself upon Vit's mushroom table with a cup of steaming tea in his hands. "I should find a different friend to bug 24/7. Or maybe just stick another hammock in the corner..."
Aldderyn shrugs. "Should I stab you next time? I will have to admit that I'm sorely tempted right now, considering the way you left us last time," he replied, tightening the straps on his gloves. "And yes, well, slaying dragons does tend to keep one occupied." He paused, looking around awkwardly before looking up and staring Kai straight in his eyes. "You're not still with /them,/ are you," he whispered harshly, spitting out "them" like it was a rotten fruit.
Vitrun cracks open an eye and chuckles. "Do you even have other friends, Conall?" He teases as he slides out of the hammock and down onto his feet. He stretches, wincing as his shoulder painfully twinges.
Conall Omalley sticks his tongue out at Vit. "No. Not really. I have a dog though! That counts, right?" Sips at his tea cautiously, only to make a weird gaping mouth face when he burns the crap out of his tongue.
Kai Tighe chuckles and crosses his arms, though he doesn't seem overly amused. "Are you still sour about that? You're a big sprout. You can and apparently did take care of yourself, and I assume the others did the same. And that," he says, voice lowering, "Should be obvious. How many have truly left their company?" He lifts a shoulder in a shrug."If you find it so repugnant, Aldderyn, why approach me at all?"
Conall Omalley throws a pebble out the window in the general direction of the voices.
Aldderyn scowled underneath his helmet and doing nothing to hide the scorn in his voice. "You were the one who just up and left us, Kai. Without so much as a word. Maybe I just need a reminder of how anyone can fall. How anyone can become so repugnantly horrid. How a revered friend could fall." Aldderyn gripped the pommel of his sword tightly, staring at his once friend. "Where did we go wrong, Kai," he asked, barely above a whisper. Then a rock hit him and he was all like "OI."
Kai Tighe watches the pebble bounce off Aldderyn's helmet and smiles, properly amused this time. "I was just thinking how I'm not in the mood to be scolded by a cranky old bundle of knots, and here the universe intercedes on my behalf. How wonderful! Let's see - Vitrun isn't likely to be tossing pebbles out his window...." He taps his chin and pitches his voice to carry up to the hut above their heads. "Why, human friend of Vitrun, whose name I don't remember, please forgive me, is that you? You've hit my friend."
Conall Omalley tosses a few more pebbles out the window as the voices become directed towards the hut. He then goes back to sipping his tea innocently.
Vitrun smacks Conall none too gently on the back of his head. "If you keep throwing rocks I swear I swear to the Pale Tree I'll put Blackvein fibers in your tea." He promises. He briefly considers ignoring Kai so he wouldn't have to deal with any more company but grudgingly accepts his fate. He leans out the doorway, spotting Kai and an unfamiliar Sylvari. "My apologies, Kai. You and... your friend can come inside if you wish."
Aldderyn looks at the blue Sylvari, then back to Kai. He offered Kai a mocking bow up toward Blue's house.
Kai Tighe smiles sweetly at Aldderyn. "You're welcome to leave, you know. I'm sure you have no interest in meeting my friends."
Aldderyn shrugs. "You didn't always have terrible taste in friends."
Kai Tighe shakes his head. "As you say." He turns and heads up to Vitrun. "Hello there! I apologize. I saw your friend was over and meant to sneak away, but Aldderyn here caught me on my way down."
Conall Omalley sips at his tea. "Nice to see you again. I dunno why you always run away though. I swear I don't bite, I only nibble."
Aldderyn looks quickly over Kai's freakishly tall frame, an eyebrow raised in surprise. "Conall?"
Conall Omalley waves over to Ald. "'Ello."
Vitrun scoffs. "When have I ever turned down your company? I was unaware you had other friends that lived in the Grove." His eyes flicker over to the strange Sylvari momentarily.
Kai Tighe chuckles. "Aldderyn and I haven't seen each other since before you awoke. I didn't know he was in the Grove." He follows Vitrun into the house.
Aldderyn shrugs. "Sometimes you miss home. Pissing in bushes and shitting in holes can only give you so much joy."
Conall Omalley: "Endless joy..." He says sarcastically.
Aldderyn steps into Vit's house and leans against a wall. "So, Blue, how long have you known Kai?"
Vitrun narrows his eyes at the nickname. "Not nearly as long as you have, a year or less." He replies with forced indifference.
Aldderyn takes off his helmet and smiles. "Either way, doesn't much to know that Kai is quite the character, isn't he? Aren't you, Kai?"
Conall Omalley pushes himself up off the shroom and slings a leather sack over his shoulder. "Welp. I've got work to and stuff to do. Have fun the lot of yah." Wanders off into the magical sunset.
Kai Tighe gives Aldderyn a broad smile and spreads his arms, inclining his head towards the other Sylvari. "From the moment I stepped out of my pod. I can't help who I am. Vitrun and I hit it off almost immediately." He gives Conall a little wave as the human walks out.
Vitrun glances over at Kai questioningly. "Actually, I wasn't too kind to you at first," he admits. "But in my defense, you were acting... oddly."
Kai Tighe's smile turns sheepish as he catches Vitrun's eye. "I did say /almost/ immediately. It was as much my fault as yours - I am, and have always been, very... opinionated."
Aldderyn grins. "Opinionated and odd. That does sound like Kai. Mind sharing the story of how you two met?"
Kai Tighe shrugs. "We bumped into each other in that little tunnel up near the entrance - he and his little sprout he's in charge of, Geneviette I think her name was? They just happened to be there, and we ended up discussing the merits of the Tablet. My opinions," he says levelly, "have not changed. Vit disagreed."
Aldderyn gave a small chuckle and a forced smile toward Kai before turning his attention back to Vitrun. "Much in the same way he, I, and a mutual friend met, then. He does seem to get into quite a few arguments over his views."
Vitrun frowns and gives Kai a pointed look. "She's very impressionable. The last thing she needs is to hear your opinion on Ventari's Tablet. It will only get her involved with the wrong type of Sylvari."
Kai Tighe shakes his head. "She's heard it now, and if she asked, I'd discuss it with her again. Sylvari can think from themselves from the moment they awake and I encourage them to." He sighs. "We've had this conversation before. I don't think we'll gain anything by having it again. Vitrun was out in the Silverwastes the other week, you know," he says with a smile to Aldderyn to ease the sudden shift in topic. "I believe that makes him your comrade in a way, Aldderyn - since you're fighting the dragons as well."
Aldderyn gives a small appreciative nod to Kai, wishing no more than he to further tread down this same road. Hearing that Vitrun also fought the dragons, Aldderyn's eyes lit up immediately. "Really now? Tell me, how dangerous do you think Mordremoth will be and how viable we actually would be in a fight against him, considering our... special connection to him."
Vitrun scowls, his mood turning sour as Kai redirects the conversation towards the Silverwastes. He finds Aldderyn's enthusiasm distasteful and doesn't hide his judging look from the other Sylvari. "If we're going to change topic, why don't we talk about why you really were in Beetlerun not so long ago." He challenges Kai.
Kai Tighe blinks, turning a startled gaze on Vitrun that's only partially for show. "You never asked, Vitrun," he says softly. He folds his hands together. "If you'd rather not discuss the Silverwastes, I understand. I didn't intend to upset you, only find a topic which you and Aldderyn could discuss other than me - you may have noticed I'm not particularly interested in talking about myself." Spreading his hands, he tilts his head down. "I apologize."
Aldderyn smirks. "Working your usual charm I see Kai. Should I step out for your lover's quarrel? And I'm sorry Vitrun if the Silverwastes is a sensitive topic for you. I'll refrain from speaking about it."
Vitrun holds back a harsh retort, embarrassed that Kai's friend was here to see his weakness. "We're not lovers and there is nothing to speak about. I'd prefer you both leave." He replies stiffly.
Aldderyn smiles broadly. "Your ever charismatic charm at its finest again Kai, bringing allies and enemies alike down along with you. Shall we leave? Or do you have something further to discuss with Vitrun."
Kai Tighe rubs the bridge of his nose, fighting down the irritation trying to bubble to the surface. "Nothing. I simply wanted to speak with my friend, uninterrupted, for the first time in weeks between our mutual responsibilities." He shoots Aldderyn a vicious look from under his hand. "Tonight is not the time, apparently. I apologize again," he adds to Vit as he drops his hand. "I'll attempt a little more tact next time."
Aldderyn shrugs. "Suit yourself, Kai. I have others to visit anyway. Yavril's still around, isn't she? Ah, doesn't matter I suppose." He rubs his gloves together and sighs, donning back his helmet. "If you ever need my help Kai. To get away that is, send me a message. The Vigil usually know where I am, or the Whispers, I suppose." Stretching out his limbs, Aldderyn gives a curt nod to Vitrun before walking out.
Kai Tighe frowns after Aldderyn, shoulders tense, but after a moment, he sighs and runs his hands through his foliage. "Idiot," he mutters, almost too quiet to be heard, then "Good night, Vitrun." He nods to the other Sylvari as he heads to the door.
