They say the World Tree grew when Life first touched Eldora. Out beneath her feet the great tree sprang, causing her to leap back and crane her head to watch the spread of the branches. From the moment of its conception, the World Tree was a large thing, a trunk so thick none could wrap their arms around it, and branches wide enough for two people to walk, side by side.

The roots stretched deep, deep beneath the earth. They cradle Eldora’s core, a molten sphere of raw, unfiltered magic. The beating heart, of the realm. The two feed each other, keeping the world alive.

From this tree, too, spawned the first creature of Eldora. A nymph, named Vitala (Vee-Tah-Lah).

Legend says that to kill the World Tree is to unravel the Loom of the world. Those who stand beneath her branches will become the new gods, to create the world they see fit.

As such, the tree has always had protectors. Once, those protectors were the Anari, who’s magical prowess was such that they could even manipulate the weather. However, the Anari disappeared after enacting one last great spell to protect the World Tree--though from what threat, they did not say.

Perhaps they were gifted with some vision of the future, of the race that would replace them--the Slaeyr--as protectors of Eldora (and thus the World Tree). Perhaps they saw Kai’os’s betrayal, his quest to end Vitala and create a new world.

Or perhaps they saw something even more sinister... Like the betrayal of one of the gods.
