ब्रह्महत्यामज्त्रलिना जग्राह यदपीश्वर | संवत्सरान्ते तदघं भूतानां स विशुद्धते | भूम्यम्बुद्रुमयोषिद्भ्यच्श्रतुर्धा वयभजद्भरि: || ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Meaning: Although Indra was so powerful that he could neutralize the sinful reactions for killing a brahmana, he repentantly accepted the burden of these reactions with folded hands. He suffered for one year, and then to purify himself he distributed the reactions for this sinful killing among the earth, water, trees and women. SB 6.9.6 One day, Indra came upon the news that that Visvarupa, a #Brahmin (also known as priests, teachers and protectors of sacred learning across generations) was secretly cheating the demigods by offering oblations on behalf of the demons. He became extremely afraid of being defeated by the demons, and in great anger at #Visvarupa he cut his three heads from his shoulders. The guilt of killing a Brahmin began eating #Indra away from inside. He remained inside a closed flower for several hundred years to pay penance. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To get his kingdom back.Indra asked everyone if they will take his sin from him so that he can get his Kingdom back. Murugan Temple - Palani Lord #Murugan is the deity of the #Tamil Land. Palani is the third Padai Veedu. The temple at Palani is an ancient one, situated at an elevation of 1500 feet above #sea level. The deity of Palani is known as #Dandayudhapani Swami. The deity at the sanctum sanctorum is made out of an amalgam of nine minerals popularly called Navabashana. The deity is in a standing position with a baton in his hand. He has just a loincloth besides the baton. He is a mute messenger of the great precept 'Renounce all to reach Me'. The icon is unique in the whole #world. Poojas: There are six pujas every day. At 5 am the Lord gives #Visvarupa Darshana. The first puja is Vizhapuja at 7:15 am followed by Kala sandhi at 8am, Uchikalam at 12 noon, Sayaraksha at 6 pm and Rakkalam at 8 pm. #Festivals: Panguniuttiram, Thai Pucam, Kanda Sasthi, Agni Nakshatram are the major festivals. Vaikasi Vishakam, Tirukkarttikai and other festivals are also celebrated. Accommodation: The Devasthanam has constructed pilgrims' resthouses, single, double, deluxe and air-conditioned rooms as well as cottages. An unusual manifestation of the Bodhisattva of Compassion, Avalokitesvara, here appears as Shrishtikanta Lokeshvara, “Beautiful Creation Lord of the World,” a form unique to Nepalese Buddhism. Shrishtikanta emanates the entire pantheon of Hindu and Buddhist deities, here indicated by the golden threads that lead to numerous beings in clouds that surround the multiarmed and multiheaded central figure. Shrishtikanta stands on a lotus floating in a river, above a large fish, and holds a white lotus flower in one of the principle hands, while the other makes the gesture of charity. The innermost layer of subsidiary arms holds white lotus, the next three layers hold deities and animal gods, while the outermost layer of hands holds various attributes. A crowned Bodhisattva surmounts the eleven rows of heads.
