Majority of hyukoh’s music videos are VISUALS FROM’s work. How did it start? Oh Hyuk and I have a school senior-junior relationship. I worked alone in the beginning. As I knew him since before his debut he would send me songs that he made at nighttime and I would make him videos, and we would upload that to our respective Vimeo or Soundcloud accounts. Conversely, when I held a video installation exhibition at an art museum Oh Hyuk made music to match it. We’ve worked together officially since ‘Wi ing Wi ing’. It was thanks to Primary and Oh Hyuk’s ‘Gondry’ that I became known to a lot of people. VISUALS FROM’s music videos are as fresh as hyukoh’s music. How should I explain the sensibility shared between the two teams? We were raised listening to Korean music. But having gone to university, learning of the variety of foreign cultures, we felt somewhat bored of the contents produced in the domestic market. So we made up our minds to create the things we like on our own. I think other people felt tired of the same things as well. Whether in music or the realm of film, aren’t we lucky that the pieces have fallen into place as our work is coming out just in time for this thirst of new things? I think we've carried fortune with us.
