#2 Organization
Information architecture (IA) focuses on organising, structuring, and labeling content in an effective and sustainable way. It’s important to assemble the pieces in an order which is understandable by most number of people, and also how items relate to each other within the system.
While organising information, it’s logical that in the absence of other visual cues like hierarchy or strong focal points, user will start in the top/left and move across and then down the page. There are various patterns and rules in visual design, art, web design and architecture that designers refer to while arranging information like Patterns, Repetition of elements, Gradation, Gutenberg’s diagram,F- Pattern, Z-Patter, Golden Ratio, Rule of third, and so on.
IDENTIFYING PATTERNS
This is the Yahoo search bar. It’s quite confusing to identify the search button from the search action in the first one. Because after reading web search once, one has to go back to the left again for the call to action.
In order to understand patterns further on the things we regularly use, I tried to establish some :-
