I am craving a rainy fall day, the scent of wet leaves, and an unsweetened hot coffee that burns my tongue. I want to walk through my city like a tourist, clear umbrella in one hand and my coffee in the other. I am wearing an all black outfit and I am invisible. I listen to my feet crunch on leaves and the rain bing on my umbrella. Everything is beautiful and gray. Everything is changing, and I remember I can too. The store fronts are littered with pumpkins and the children are dressed up like ghosts. The veil is so thin, I feel an older version of myself trailing behind me. We made it to another autumn. It’s almost our birthday. We still don’t know where we are going, surrounded by beauty and seeking meaning.
