A couple of successful pieces of work that came from the last couple of days plaster casting. I had to make the plaster a lot thicker and gave the alginate a draining system to remove any extra water.
I’ve painted one with copper paint, but for John Ryland’s it will be bronze flaked. I do like the effect of the paint on the casts, it makes them look like a metal cast.

Iranian-born artist Shirin Neshat explores the paradox of being an artist in exile: a voice for her people, but unable to go home. In her work, she explores Iran pre- and post-Islamic Revolution, tracing political and societal change through powerful images of women.
One of my artists, she does many talks with other lecturers, TED talks and universities. She’s a very influential artist in the contemporary art world, especially in the Iranian film world.
The Lovers, Rene Magritte.
A performance piece by Matthew Hanlon.
After speaking to Matthew once the performance had finished i realised that the piece was based on the painting 'The Lovers by Rene Magritte. Matthew said that he felt strongly towards the painting and realised that he felt there was strong passion displayed with in the piece. This made him wonder if it was actually possible to love and care for something that you don't really know. He also considered what it would be like if circumstances were different for example death or a relationship split. The piece started off slow and mundane and he took everyone by surprise by smashing and wrecking objects around him to show how unpredictable our feelings and impulses can be towards one another.

I'm currently focusing on potentially putting my work up in the old Salford Crescent Fire Station which i'm really looking forward to. I've written one of my proposals and am working on the 2nd one at the minute, in between writing proposals i have also been doing lots of research on the building. I am also trying to find as much information as possible on the history of the building to give me other ideas to work with. I recently visited the site and took some photographs there to inspire me and work with at a starting point.
