The focus of this day's lecture was visual propaganda. Visual propaganda originated from the name of an organization set up in 1622 by the Roman Catholic church to carry out missionary work. The goal of visual propaganda is to "deliberately select facts, arguments, and/or images and represent them in ways that will have the most persuasive effect." Clips of "The Battleship Potemkin" were shown as an example of visual propaganda. "Triumph of the Will", a film about the Nazi Party convention at Nuremberg in 1934, was also shown as an example.
