Ever since he’d accepted the invitation to join the program, Carter had harbored his doubts. Years of distinguished service found him pulled away from his high ranking position and thrown him in here. Sure, the promise of it was tempting, they’d sold it far too well for Carter to logically turn it down. He’d been the talk of his old unit before he said his goodbyes. Which left him here, with nary a friend to speak of. It was daunting in a way, going from respected and cared for to being what could be considered nobody.
Maybe that feeling is why he’s taken a seat for the time being next to one of the other prospects in his group. Alpha, was their name. Not very original, but Carter didn’t expect originality. Already his body wanted a break from the extensive training they were running them through. As far as Carter could tell, it was going to be the easiest part of this whole ordeal. There would be chemicals involved eventually, he knows the way these programs work. Perhaps that’s why he’s a part of it. Not to be too distracted by his own thoughts, he looks to the man next to him, holding out his hand and giving the other a smile.
“ Hey. Name’s Carter. Though, you might know that one already given the fact they did call our names. Never hurts to be polite about it as far as I’m concerned. Best to get to know each other a little bit, seeing as we’re going to be in the same training group for the foreseeable future, right ? ”
