        the news had shaken rhaenys to her very cote: the queen dowager had been exiled from court. after the initial shock had faded her first thought had been for viserra. she’d hurried to find her half-sister and had breathed a sigh of relief when she had. taking her sister by the hands, rhaenys had led her to her chambers, one of the few places in the entire keep that she knew they’d be safe. she didn’t think baelor would turn against his own siblings, but a day ago rhaenys hadn’t thought he’d turn against his own stepmother either. the king had grown more unpredictable. it frightened rhaenys to her very bones.

          she lay down next to viserra on top of the covers and pulled her sister close. rhaenys could think of no words that would provide comfort; hopefully her presence would be enough. so she held viserra as she cried and while she lay silently, staring off into nothingness. occassionally, rhaenys would sing to her as she had done when they were little and viserra was frightened or upset. but today she wasn’t even sure if her sister heard her. sitting up, rhaenys picked up a stray blanket and covered her sister with it, not even caring that the other princess was still fully dressed and wearing shoes.          ❝  you can stay here tonight, if you’d like. it would be just like when we were young and shared a room when the nightmares were too bad. ❞          and if nightmares could truly come to life then rhaenys was beginning to fear that this may be the beginning of one.
