📣 @VISA Purchased @CryptoPunk NFT worth $150K, Takes Entry in the #NFTWorld

👉 The payments processor #VISA announced on Monday that it bought a #NFT of a digital artwork called a #CryptoPunk for nearly $150,000 in #Ethereum as it seeks to learn more about the burgeoning market.

👉 #CuySheffield, Head of the Crypto at VISA said that the NFTs will play an "important role" in the future of #retail, #socialmedia, and #entertainment and Visa planned this step to have the first-hand experience of the process through its work with partner Anchorage Digital.

👉 He further said that VISA wanted to showcase its support for the creators, collectors, and artists developing NFT commerce. He also compared NFTs to the early days of E-commerce when small businesses used to sell online and reach customers worldwide.

👉 Following the news of VISA's purchase, a further 90 CryptoPunks NFTs were snapped up in the next hour for combined sales of around $20 million.
