Anon day: How did he acquire his lovely cat companion?
"It was back when I threw in my lot to hunt in Val'sharah. Back when the Satyrs of Shaladrassil were awakened and overran Shala'nir. Seeing what they were doing to the land as the nightmare was spreading put me on edge. But worse was what it was doing to the wildlife." He said with a deep frown."In that area, they call panther's like her Nightsabers. I don't know how old she was exactly, but I know she wasn't even fully grown yet and under or close to a year if that. I had shot her mother down, she'd been lost to the corruption of the nightmare, her fur already starting to rot." He grew still as he reflected on the memory, a cold chill of anger showing in his gaze.
"She was only trying to protect her mother when she came at me, the nightmare corruption hadn't fully taken her yet. She'd caught me off guard, impressive as that was and so my shot didn't hit its mark when I fired at her." He went silent for a moment as if that part of the memory wasn't one he was proud of. "I wounded her good, but I could tell when she ran off that she was only going to suffer if I let her be or suffer a fate worse than her mother's." He rubs his palm over her face.
"I tracked her blood trail till I found her, even if she knew she didn't stand a chance and was dying slowly, she had a fierceness in her at such a young age that caught my eye. The odds were entirely against her, her kin destroyed by forces out of her control and a lead slug in her draining her slowly yet she still looked me right in the eyes and fought. She didn't flee, and I... couldn't fire a second time." He'd gone quiet, debating how much more to admit out loud. "I nursed her back to health back at my camp. At the time I already had another companion, despite being feathered he was larger than her. Each day when my hunt and my missions during that campaign progressed, I'd fly back in to check on her till I was convinced she'd survive. And when I let her loose to return to the wild, well... a bond had formed I didn't seek nor expect. The campaign lasted for some time in those lands, and no matter where I went she would follow at a distance. And when it mattered most she returned the favor and forgave me in her own way." [Thank you Anon!]
