After ten years, the identity of the mystery monster in Gamera (2015) has finally been revealed as... Viras? The proof comes from signage at a Gamera Expo underway in Tokyo. Relevant text:
"The released footage, which is just under four minutes long, shows [...] Gamera facing off against a new monster (Viras) that suddenly appears 10 years later."
"Initially it was expected to be produced using suit special effects, but (then–)Kadokawa CEO and Managing Director Shinichiro Inoue requested, 'I want the monster in the 10 years later scene to be Viras,' and from a budgetary and scheduling perspective, it was decided that this would be the first full-CG work in the series."
