If it came from anyone else Larys would have brushed off their words with immediate disregard.   But,   there was a different air about her,   the rumors that were whispered about a legitimized bastard were never far from his own ears,   and it was nothing he was familiar with.   There was so little information too and anything brought to Larys could even be interpreted as ghost stories.   The Old Gods' magic was different to others and it left him particularly underprepared for outside forces.   Not out of skepticism but out of the lack of information when it came to other powers that be.   Especially when they came from across the Narrow Sea.

There is a hint of a challenge in his voice … but also a slight admittance.   An acknowledgement that Kira may be on the right path,   but he also fears what she will speak aloud.

she might be getting an extra annoying version of me. it is, i suppose, somewhat to be expected when i remember that the only conversation i've had in the last couple years has been with literal rocks. okay, a tiny bit dismissive of the eridian species, but it is technically true. kira might not be human, and apparently i'll remind her at every possible junction, but it still feels like something familiar.

" casimir notes the unfamiliar visage of this particular guest ... the way her gaze was sharp and focused along the contents of the art presented in the current exhibition. the hustle and bustle of guests and critiques alike fill the space. some in discussion over how well aligned they were with the exhibit's current themes, some in talk with the artists in hopes of even buying out their work, and some presenting the business offer of being presented by a separate gallery. ( the usual chorus of his art exhibits that always brought music to his ears. ) but this guest in particular stood out to him ... quiet, almost distant from the rest of the buzz of the event. it garnered the curator's attention, and naturally, was it not his duty to satiate any of his guests' curiosity; loud or quiet as they may be.

" i ... i think that was a stronger spell ... that i didn't mentally prepare myself for, haha ... " hikari's using the weight of her staff as support to keep herself upright, suddenly feeling flushed and nauseous altogether. ( she used up far more energy than she expected for that spell. ) her staff was her only conduit rather than utilizing any support through magic circles or runes, so to make up for it and ensure a balance, she used up her own energy .... and. well. now she feels like she's seeing double. she lifts his hand up to support her head, feeling like it's going to split in half at any moment. she suddenly coughs into her palm, feeling something wet against her head and the taste of iron on her tongue ... she looks down to see traces of blood she hacked up into her palm. in that moment, her grip around her staff loses itself completely, and her body slowly starts to fall over. oops.

hikari hums with a pondering, looking up and down in every corner she could think of within the cafe ... this was the last place they were here together by her memory alone. maybe kira lost it elsewhere ? she frowns in disappointment and is ready to type away at her phone to let her master know until-- OH ! hikari brightens when she sees that familiar, thick dark cover of a familiar cursed tome-- inside the mouth of one of taiyou's cats he feeds. crap.

the scene must be truly horrifying if that's the elicited reaction. the usage of his numbers weapon had been strictly prohibited while in the recovery period, so he couldn't even check to see if she truly was terrified or just a good liar. activation might end up making this a more permanent situation, the doctors had told him— this being the current state of blindness that gen currently finds himself in. the warning had been loud despite the gentle framing; continue to recklessly abuse our kaiju and we'll leave you stumbling without a purpose. 

whatever. he could play the role of a muzzled dog, at least for a little while.  

not like he needed his eyesight for situations like this one. maybe it was a secret blessing, being unable to see the expression she wore. the tone of her words was already too much / uncomfortable and itchy the way the bedsheets were. carefully does a bandaged hand reach out to where she ( maybe? ) sits by the hospital bed, fumbling against empty space to his right before finding purchase on her head. a few pats to confirm this was kira, that not even a lack of vision could keep him from finding her— before he proceeds to smack his hand firmly against the crown of her head. ❛ that's for doubting me and my incredible recovery. ❜ cowardly words meant to provoke a different reaction; because narumi gen was only strong when standing in the face of danger. right now, he wanted nothing more than to run away.

what comfort could bandaged hands even offer?
