As we all know, Notre Dame de Paris has burnt today. It's a very sad day for those people like me who have studied history and art. Notre Dame is probably one of the most amazing landmarks, not only in Europe but also in the world. Today, over 800 years of history have been lost for good. Paris, one of the most amazing cities in the world wonât be the same without Notre Dame. Thank god, some parts of the cathedral have survived to the terrible fire, but not all of them have been that lucky. Maybe you think this isnât important, but IT IS. Notre Dame isnât a simple cathedral, but itâs an important part of French history and a symbol of the city of Paris. It took over 100 years to build this amazing cathedral, of course, it had some many reforms in recent centuries, but today, a part of the French history has been consumed in the flames forever. This really breaks my heart. I have no words to express how I feel. Notre Dame is a very special place to me for many reasons, and now I feel like those memories I had from this place, have been consumed in the fire.
But also I feel angry, very angry because Iâve read pretty awful and disgusting comments about this tragedy. People mocking on it, with stupid Disney memes, people saying that French people deserve this for their politics and for what they did in the past, people saying that this is a symbol of the death of Europe, people saying that this happened because Catholic religion sucks... I have no words to express the anger and disgust I feel reading such things. Today I lost my faith in humanity. I see humans but not humanity.Â
I donât care about your political ideas, your religion or whatever. Iâm an atheist and I still Iâm crying for what happened, so if I see another comment mocking about this, or shitting on France, Iâm gonna be mad, really, really mad.Â
