Des Nilsen was a Scottish serial killer who murdered at least 12 boys between 1978 and 1983 in his home in London. He was sentenced to life in prison and died in 2018.
He trained as a chef in the army, worked as a junior constable, a security guard and as a placement officer for a Jobcentre. He was described as quiet and conscientious. The majority of his victims were homeless or gay, but others were heterosexual.
The victims were loners or vulnerable boys and he lured them to his home with the promise of alcohol or shelter. He plied them with drink and then strangled and drowned them before cutting up their bodies and disposing of them.
The murders were first discovered by Dyno-Rod who had been called out by both Nilsen and neighbouring tenants to fix a blocked drain. Flesh and bones were found inside the pipework.
Violent souls are submerged in the river of boiling blood
The story of Ian Brady and Myra Hindley is hauntingly brutal. The pair were responsible for the Moors Murders in which they killed 5 children aged between 10 and 17 between 1963 and 1965 around Manchester, England.
Myra’s father was an alcoholic who beat his wife and taught his daughter to stand up for herself by fighting back against bullies.
She was obsessed with dead and mangled bodies of animals and felt no empathy when her peers injured or hurt themselves. When Myra’s father became disabled following a stroke, she would take her revenge for her mother and beat him.
She called off her engagement when she met Ian Brady and became obsessed with him even though he was frequently violent, and he drugged and raped her. She was submissive to his every demand and, together, they set out to murder children and hide them all over the moor.
