After filling in orders today I spent a few minutes on a trash can for our daughters #mermaid themed #bathroom by #upcycling an old pretzel container. I removed the original labels with a scraper, vegetable oil, and baking soda. My dad loved Olivia Newton-John and then Grease happened and he did NOT approve of black leather wearing, cigarette smoking Sandy/Olivia. Then Physical came and oh no. I was, of course, obsessed/gay.
Wild Things Run Fast isn’t one of my favorite Joni albums, but as I grow older I find myself appreciating music that I never really did before, which is how I went from disliking Hejira to listening to it at least once a day for two years and tattooing an image from it onto my body. Songs keep opening up to me in different ways and every time I listen to this one I appreciate it more.
Dolly’s Greatest Hits is just a perfect record of Dolly fabulousness that my Granny got me and I was obsessed/gay.
When I first saw the video for ‘Do you really want to hurt me?’ I was 9 years old, at our babysitter’s house (she had MTV and we didn’t) and I remember honestly thinking Boy George was a pretty lady. It’s actually kind of interesting that the three queerest of this bunch, Olivia, Dolly, and Culture Club, are all records I had as a kid. like, the gayest kid.
