Two newest additions to my tools, antique yarn swifts. They're super compact (slightly bigger than a can of soda) and they do the job well. The metal one was made in England. The wooden one was made in France. I needed swifts that folded down and packed well to save space in my apartment, and came across these beauties. The French swift (dévidoir) came in its original box, and is missing the base but that's an easy fix. I try to purchase vintage tools and supplies first before I give up and just get something new. Trying to reduce waste and be environmentally friendlier when I can. Here is a pair of re-worked vintage Japanese monpe (farmer pants) that I did for my pal Michiyo @lilwoodsvintage I sewed the sides up and added a large pocket on either side made from vintage kimono. Added a drawstring waist made from vintage indigo Chinese futon fabric, added some other vintage Japanese fabric scraps for a patchwork design and did a little (amateur) sashiko stitchwork.
