I am frequently asked if sizes are different today than those of vintage clothes. Yes they are VERY different. Take these two pairs of slacks for example. The teal/green slacks are from the 1970's, and are Cheenos brand. The tag on the inside lists them as a size 9. The black slacks are a modern Doncaster pair and the size is listed as a 10. The waist on them measures 29". The waist on the Cheenos is 24 inches. In today's sizing the Cheenos measures as a modern size 2. The Cheenos do not have any spandex or Lycra in them, so no stretch either. So they were a 9 and today they really are a size 2. The Alley measures each garment in stock and hangs them in the modern size place on the rack to make shopping with us easier. Just one more way we think about our customers that sets apart from the rest. #vintage #vintagesize #size #modernsizing #vanitysizing #cheenos #vintagelovers (at The Alley Vintage and Costume) https://www.instagram.com/p/ByYayL-gLHA/?igshid=9usdj9t2c9dk
