I think Strifentine includes a lot of non-sexual body worship because I think they both need it. Cloud appreciates the long limbs and tight waist, the way Vincent can so effortlessly wrap himself around Cloud’s body. The scars that cover his figure are beautiful, to Cloud at least. Cloud doesn’t have any scars left due to the mako and Jenova cells, but Vincent has physical evidence of everything he’s been through. Vincent is resilient and there’s a comfort that comes with recognizing that. There’s nothing that could truly kill Vincent, nothing that could take Vincent away from him. He lost his mother, his village, his only friend, and his most powerful companion. He’s learned to be terrified of the people he loves dying, and Vincent’s scars represent the very experiments that made him immortal. Vincent will ALWAYS be with him, something he’d naively thought about his mother, Zack, and Aerith, but now with absolute certainty.
And I think Vincent appreciates Cloud’s body because, well, #1, it’s Cloud’s body, and Cloud has a fantastic body. But also #2, it’s Cloud’s body, it’s Cloud’s heart that’s beating, it’s Cloud’s organs keeping him alive. He breathes through his two natural lungs and his natural heart pumps natural blood through Cloud’s natural veins. Cloud has the irrepressible warmth of life while Vincent’s has a frigidity of death. Cloud doesn’t have any of the grotesque deformities that Vincent claims to have, and yet Cloud has decided that Vincent deserves to be able to touch and cherish him like he was still human. It took a surprising (well, surprising to Cloud at least) amount of time for Cloud to drill into Vincent’s head that he was still a person.

Vincent Valentine is both in his mid to late 20s and his early 60s (he died 36 years ago) which I find endlessly hilarious. There goes that gay little emo boy who probably doesn’t know how to add a password to his phone. There goes that stupid dork who can probably cite the manufacturer of every pistol created from the year 1965 to 1970. Every Vincent ship has its own variation of problematic age gap in the funniest fucking way. Even Nanaki, who has similar issues with age, has a problematic age gap with Vincent. I love it here.
Sapphire needs to meet Vincent Valentine. They can both suck at modern technology. Sapphire can teach him how NOT to use a microwave. Or what a computer mouse is.
