The Grimlord ("Angry Santa" as my wife called him) from Village Attacks . And so begins my work on the Town Heroes... I couldn't figure out what the hell the white stuff was on his blade... so I kind of sped through that, heh. I also couldn't figure out what to do with the bird-staff... metal? Stone? Wood? So I kind of kept it "stone"ish, but went a little nuts with the highlights to perhaps lean towards a polish or metallic feel; it's a confused mess, heh. . So if you look at the sculpt (render), his eyes are actually CRAZY tiny with big bags under the eyes... so I was planning to just shade where the eyes were. When I was highlighting the bags, I went a little overboard, so I tried painting back in where the eyes would be... I should've gotten a smaller brush, but I was lazy. Ultimately, I ended up accidentally making what looked like "eyes" and it somehow worked... so I left it as-is, haha. . The source art had a red interior and grey/blue exterior for the cape, but I felt like it didn't pop much from the back, so I made it all red. Actually, even though I didn't get a shot of the back, I'm happy with how the red came out. I wanted a deep wine-red with almost velvet kind of material, so the highlights were fun and made it seem almost luxurious, heh. Unfortunately that's not something you really see from the front. . #miniatures #miniaturepainting #boardgames #villageattacks #grimlordgames #grimlord https://www.instagram.com/p/BqYDxnkHU3Z/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1vgvsrikew2iw
