Your character is tasked with filling a garden bed with whatever plants they choose. How do they react? What plants do they pick, and is there any reasoning behind their choices?

Jinana would jump at the chance to fill the area with a riot of colorful wildflowers guaranteed to attract lots of bees, butterflies, and other critters to the garden.

S/he would put plenty of thought into making sure that there would be lots of flowers blooming in each season - things like zinnias, asters, geraniums, poppies, lavender and sweet alyssum, as well as herbs like lemon balm, basil, and sage.

Reidunn had stayed with him, after witnessing what she could only describe as a breakdown. He hadn’t said so, but she knew he needed someone with him.

She had sat him down on the settee in his living room with Lughnasa on his shoulder, nibbling at his hair, and went to make him a cup of tea.

When she returned, she pressed the mug into his hands and sat down next to him. His tears had stopped, though his eyes were still rimmed red and downcast, staring into the steam as it curled up from the rim of the mug.

“Drink your tea,” she prompted,

“You should go home,” he mumbled, “it’s late.”

“I know it’s late. That’s why I’m staying here.”

They fell into uneasy silence.

1. Why did you pick their name?

I was aware of the name, because it’s a nickname used here in Finland. I got curious and googled if it’s an actual name elsewhere, and what do you know: it’s a Persian name, especially used in Turkey. The name’s meaning was so fitting for Hande’s personality so that’s how she got her name. This fact also made me to write Hande as a child from multicultural family, and therefore I took inspiration for Karnassos from ancient Persia and Iran.

2. Why did your character get that name in-universe?

Even soon after her birth, Hande started to smile a lot - at first reflexively, but after she learnt to smile on purpose, she almost never stopped. Name Hande is Karnassian and means smile or laughter, therefore fitting for her personality. Hande’s parents had agreed that their children’s first names would be Karnassian since their surname is Hjallean.

Hande’s second name, Aurora, is more universal name but pretty used in Hjalle. Her parents thought the name would match well with Hande and its meaning, dawn, was fitting for their firstborn in their opinion.

3. How do they talk in a formal situation?

During formal situations Hande is more alert: she speaks slower and calmer than normally and tries to be mindful for not to stray from the topic (Hande’s manner of speech is rather rambly, jumping from topic to other). Usually she also has practiced what she will say in advance, if she has known that she’s going to be in a situation like that.

4. How do they talk with close people?

With close people Hande’s way of talking is bubbly and rambly, and she’s not afraid showing her enthusiasm. She’s also relaxed during conversations with close people and there isn’t going to be any nervous rambling.

Ensley bent over the plate. She had done the best she could without having to use the stove-not an easy feat but she'd done it. She was tempted to taste test, but she didn't want to steal food from Reidunn. She'd come over last night at the request of a sniffling Reidunn, and she'd spent the night at her bedside. She could have left, but she wasn't going to leave her girlfriend alone with a cold, which she had assumed was the problem. She didn't make a habit of staying over with people; it complicated things. Soon you spend so much time with them you begin to miss them when they aren't there, and then you've got a whole different mess. But she couldn't bring herself to leave Reidunn's side, her mind conjuring a vision of her needing Ensley and finding herself alone.

Ensley picked up the plate, softly entering Reidunn's room again to find her already awake, staring at the ceiling.

"Knock knock. Breakfast." Reidunn looked at her, eyes wide. Ensley had made it clear before her feelings on staying with people overnight, and the pair was equally surprised she was still here.

"You stayed?" Reidunn's voice was coarse, and Ensley helped her to sit up, handing her the plate of room temperature and yet hopefully still good food. She didn't find her voice for a moment, cheeks flaming.

"Well of course I stayed. You're here, where else would I be?" She muttered, putting more attention than was necessary on straightening Reidunn's blankets. When she did look up, she found Reidunn watching her with a sort of affection smugness. "Don't look at me like that. Eat up."

She stood, kissing Reidunn's forehead and turning to leave. Reidunn caught her hand, worried eyes trained on Ensley.

"I'm just going to clean your kitchen dearest. I promise I'll come back." Her promise seemed to relieve the huldra's anxieties, and she soon had her hand back.
