Young finback whale (~45’ long), off Montauk on the Wednesday June 30,2021 CRESLI-Viking Fleet whale watch. Look closely at the dorsal fin and you’ll see killer whale raking scars. Some of the 11 humpbacks we saw and 6 we were able to photograph and identify off Montauk in 8/18/21. The last one is the 2016 calf of Nile, disentangled July 2020 from 3900 lbs f fishing gear. We were lucky enough to be the first vessel to photograph him 3 weeks post entanglement, exactly 364 days ago and 4 nm from last year.
