"Qifrey." His name is said with a warning tone, but any time Olruggio speaks, whether it is in the private moments with Qifrey or the students, there is warmth. He spends a moment rubbing the sleep from his eyes as he tries to stifle a yawn, but is unable to do so. It is lost to him, the number of times, he's lectured Qifrey and the students about the importance of a good night's rest, all the while failing to heed his own advice. "Wouldn't be able to follow you everywhere, y'know. Not like I've got eyes all over the place." The very image of that makes him grimace as he pictures eyes, perhaps drawn or carved, throughout the atelier, and Olruggio shakes his head. He lets out a grumble and another yawn, and one more grumble because he's yawning so much, and stretches. "Kind enough of you to make me a cup," he gestures with a tilt of his chin to the mug Qifrey is holding. "Unless that is for you and you're not willing to share."
“Your worry follows me everywhere,” Qifrey appends, unable to keep the smile from his voice as he palms his cup and keeps the pleasant, wafting steam close to his face.
In its hearth, the flame beneath his perpetual stew casts a warm light on the walls of his atelier. His neighbor is only ever as far away as the nearest source of warmth and light, even if they each come and go as they please. Olruggio happens to be beholden to his clients rather than students and Qifrey has never mastered the timing of his neighbor’s comings and goings. Constantly scurrying between towns, improvising magic and magical items on the fly to meet their demands is nothing Qifrey envies. Better still to have the real thing and not a substitute in the form of some magical curio, of course.
Judging by the darkening circles under Olruggio’s eyes, his current customer must be particularly troublesome.
Qifrey’s eyes flicker up from the rim of his tea cup up to Olruggio’s inquiring gaze, then back again to his drink with deliberate innocence.
“Well,” Qifrey utters with emphasis as he straightens up against a pair of plush cushions and gently pats the empty space beside him. “I’d be inclined to share if I thought you might join me.”
