Another ship dynamic i like is dagur being viggos guard dog the way mac from always sunny is dennis' guard dog
Just like...completely desperate to please and increasingly emotionally dependent. Being absolutely played like a puppet but too infatuated to care.
Does viggo love him? Ehh?? Maybe in his own way? But it's definitely about power and desire.
Dagur will do something absolutely violent and terrible on viggos orders and then turn to him for validation like - did i do it right? Are you happy?? Do i have your affection now???
Viggo gives him emotional scraps like a slight nod, a small smile or "yes, you did well, i suppose", and it makes his dagurs whole day.

This is a ship that I've been thinking about for a long time, and the more I think about it, more I like.
There's practically nothing about them, and, when there's, it's always about Hiccup and him at the center. But I wanted to explore just Dagur and Viggo, I think they both have a lot of potential.
I have some fun ideas that I want to draw, and maybe do mini comics.
I always liked the idea of Viggo never had much experience with relationships, this is normally part of my headcanon of him being aroace, but here would be another reason. Because he was heir, then a chief and a very cold and distant person, people never tried to get close to him intimately because they were afraid.
Everyone except Dagur, because he has no idea of danger.
For me, Dagur is an open book. His emotions are so strong that it shows through him. And he always says what he thinks, without thinking about the consequences.
Think of a version where Viggo joins his brother earlier, or Dagur not leaving after freeing Heather.
I imagine Dagur constantly flirting with Viggo, because yes, he's a dick and annoying, but he's hot, you can't deny it. But Viggo is always ruthless and has no qualms about threatening him.
*after Viggo threateningly asks Dagur to leave for flirting with him again*
Ryker: Are you crazy? You have no idea of the danger, do you?
Dagur: It's not my fault if your brother doesn't know how to have fun
Viggo goes straight to his room, and there, alone, he becomes a complete emotional mess. Your face turns completely red and feels like it's going to burn.
Viggo doesn't like Dagur. He doesn't even feel attracted to him. But it's the first time someone has shown any interest in him, it's uncomfortable but exciting at the same time. He's never been through this before and he doesn't know how to deal with it.
After a while Dagur gives up flirting with Viggo. And, strangely instead of feeling relieved, Viggo misses the attention. And against all his code and morals, he goes to confront Dagur about this and their conversation turns to something else. A hint: it's sex
*after a hot and wild sex, Dagur is completely satisfied and happy. Viggo is also equally satisfied , but very angry*
Viggo: This doesn't mean anything okay? This will never happen again and if you talk about this to anyone I swear I'll make you wish for death.
to my ryker/dagur and dagur/viggo freaks (non derogatory) - im trying to figure out how i want to write the dynamic in which ryker and viggo are competing with each other.
the first thought i had was that ryker and dagur would get together first - it makes sense, seeing as ryker and dagur spend a lot more time together than dagur and viggo do. i can also see ryker begrudgingly getting close to dagur...maybe not being in love but definitely having affection for him - and then viggo seeing that and suddenly his desire for dagur pretty much coming out of a desire to take something away from his brother. it would make ryker so upset because why cant viggo just let him have ONE GODSDAMNED THING FOR HIMSELF? and viggo would be a smug prick about it.
but on the other hand...i think it would be very funny for ryker to get with dagur after viggo did as an act of rebellion. like viggos always belittling him so he gets a little revenge but then oh shit why does he kind of like this ridiculous, annoying man? why is he growing on him? and viggo would be like i order you to stop sleeping with dagur, he's mine, and rykers like....mmm nah, dont think so.
i think either way dagur would love the attention and try to break up their fights like "boys, boys youre both pretty" and theyd go shut up dagur this isnt about you- and then he's deeply offended like "what do you mean its not about me? how is it not about me???"
like yes they both desire dagur but a lot of it is just using him an extension of their sibling rivalry
i also think viggo/dagur is very much about dagur pleasing viggo and getting validation out of that, meanwhile ryker/dagur is just uh...dagur getting absolutely obliterated

In which Dagur infuriates Viggo by flirting with him
this is the beginning of the fic im working on...its becoming a little longer than i expected...just a little...it'll probably be around 9k words
so I wanted to share the first 1500 words or so - not done editing yet, so there may be errors
With heavy eyes, Viggo skimmed the ledger that had been delivered to his office quarters. He exhaled in frustration. This would infuriate him for some timeâthe fact that money had been stolen right out from under him, and by one of his own men! His fury at the insult would no doubt interrupt his already troubled sleep later in the night. He rested his elbows on his desk and clasped his hands. He closed his tired eyes, trying to think. A shrill cry broke the silence.Â
âOH GODS, PLEASE, PLEASE STOP, IâM SORRY!âÂ
Well, at least the issue was being addressed.
The scream came all the way from the brig. It pierced through the floors and walls of the ship, filling the air with the sounds of agony. The screaming went on for quite some time, and then there was silence. Heâd better not be dead already, Viggo thought. It would be a hassle to find yet another worker from the dragon fighting pit to interrogate without arousing suspicion from his associates. Viggo needed this matter sorted out efficiently and discreetlyâideally without rounding up the entire lot of workers at the fighting pit if it could be avoided.Â
Viggoâs thoughts were interrupted when Dagur came into his quarters unwelcomed and unannounced. His fists were bruised and he was splattered with blood. His hands and forearms were covered with the stuff. What had once been rivulets of blood had dried onto Dagurâs pale skin like maps of rivers drawn with red ink. His chest heaved, perhaps from rushing to Viggoâs officeâor perhaps from the excitement of dismembering or flaying or teeth-pulling, or whatever gruesome act Dagur preferred. Viggo grimaced at his appearance. Dagur didnât even have the decency to clean himself up before coming to speak with him.
Dagur opened his mouth to speak but stopped short when Viggo held up a finger for silence.
âWhen Iâm finished.â Viggo continued looking over the ledger. It was an unnecessary delay. Heâd already looked for evidence of the stolen funds a dozen times. He just wanted to make Dagur wait. The young man needed to be put in his place on a regular basis. But eventually, his wide-eyed staring unnerved Viggo. He disliked the way Dagurâs eyes watched himâŚthere was something about it wholly unlike the way Viggoâs other men looked at himâhe was used to an appropriate level of deference, even fear. Dagur had likely been used to the same, once upon a time. Perhaps that was why he insisted on being a thorn in Viggoâs side.Â
Lately, Dagur had made a habit of making âjokesâ at Viggoâs expense, often in front of others, and always with some vulgar implication. It was getting on Viggoâs nerves and he did not have the patience to deal with it today.Â
Viggo finally looked up from his ledger with a glance. âI assume youâve made progress?â
âI certainly have.â Dagurâs smug tone made Viggo roll his eyes. He stood there proudly with his hands on his hips as if waiting for praise.
âAnd?â Viggo demanded.
âOh, right. Okay, so the embezzlement ring is much bigger than we originally thought. Thereâs like, a dozen guys in on it. Ulf is just the tip of the iceberg.â
âHmm.â Viggo hummed against his bridged hands. âAnd I wonder if our dear friend Ulf was perhaps incentivized to give whatever names it would take in order for the pain to stop.â
Dagur folded his arms. âUhâŚI donât think so. Iâm pretty sure I got the right names. Why would Ulf lie?â
âYouâre pretty sure?â Viggo examined his nails, unimpressed. âWell if that doesnât inspire confidence, I donât know what would.â
âDefinitely sure,â Dagur corrected. Thereâs no way he was holding back.â
Viggo sighed. âThat sounds like itâs precisely the problem. Some peopleâmost people in factâwill say just about anything to prevent a great deal of pain. Judging by the screaming I heard, Ulf sounded ready to implicate his own mother if it would make the torture stop. You went about it too bluntly.â
âBluntly?â Dagur laughed. âI used a knife!â
âNo, you idiot,â Viggo smacked his forehead. âI mean you interrogated him incorrectly.â
Dagur held out his arms in exasperation. âHow is that even possible? You said to make him talk!â
âNot just to say anythingâto tell us what we need to know!â Viggo shook his head in disbelief. âHow did you go about getting him to talk? What was your strategy?â
Dagur blinked. He wore an empty-headed expression of perfect stupidity. âStrategy? The strategy in torture is make them hurt, yes?â
Viggo rested his head against his hand. âYes, thank you for that masterful lesson, Dagur. But what youâve missed is that when applied without forethought, pain can make anyone agree to anything, thereby making the confession worthless and the interrogation itself a waste of time.â Viggo accentuated each point with sharp, swift gestures. âThereâs an art to itâyou canât just rush in with full force! You have to gradually increase the pain; think strategicallyâoffer moments of respite and hope; try to influence their thinking with more than just physical pain, andââ he interrupted himself, annoyed. Dagur was just staring at him blankly. Viggoâs knowledge was wasted on the likes of him. âOh, nevermind. Perhaps I should have had Ryker do it. Or better yet, if I wanted it done correctly, I should have done it myself.â
âOh, nonononono,â Dagur insisted. âYou definitely donât need Ryker. I did perfectly fine!â
Viggo scoffed. âFine? And youâre happy with that? If youâre going to be of use to me, I need you to be more than fine.â
Dagur glared at him for a moment, but then his body language changed. He was no longer defensive, but confident and cavalier. He smirked and a dark look came over his eyes. âWell if you want me to be of use, I can assure you Iâd be more than fine.â
âDagurââ
âI can be whatever you want.â
âAâ!â Viggo stopped short, glaring angrily. That detestable audacity again! No matter what Viggo did, Dagur was like a gnat incessantly buzzing about his ears. He only showed a proper amount of respect when he was swatted. Viggo didnât need or want Dagurâs advances. He was not one to be so easily influenced by petty flattery, and certainly not by the likes of this boorish fool. Besides, if Viggo were looking for intimacy, he would do the pursuing, not the other way around.
âApparently not,â Viggo spat, when he had finally collected himself. âAfter all, I want you to be competent, not complacent in your own self-satisfaction.â
Without missing a beat, Dagur replied with a grin. âWell hey, thereâs plenty of satisfaction to go around. Iâm sure you and I can arrange somethingâŚâ
âEnough!â Viggo pushed himself up from his chair. He hoisted the ledger from his desk and launched it at Dagurâs head. Dagur narrowly ducked out of the way. The heavy book hit the door and then the ground with a thud. âI donât have time for your insolence! I have been cheated and I trusted you to help me clear up this mess. I thought it would be an opportunity for you to prove yourself, but clearly youâre not taking it seriously!â
Dagur straightened up. âI am taking it seriously!â He sounded petulant, but there was a dangerous edge to his voice as well. âI just donât understandââ
âYes, thatâs the trouble, isnât it?â Viggo snapped. âYour lack of understanding? Lack of care, lack of thoughtââ
âWhenever I try to think, you tell me to stop!â Dagur clasped his hands behind himself, straightened his back to an exaggerated degree, and frowned deeply. âAll thinking has been done, Dagur. You just need to do as youâre told, Dagur. Just follow orders, Dagur.â His impression was preposterous. âIsnât that what you always tell me?â
Viggoâs lip curled with distaste. âThatâs what I tell you when Iâve given you direct orders. In this case, I gave you some freedom to act on your own, and you couldnât even be bothered to do more than carry out mindless violence.â He exhaled. âYou know, if you want to make something of yourself, you need to use your mind as well as your musclesâŚâ
It was a common habit of men of DagurâsâŚphysical state to rely too heavily on their brawns at the expense of developing their brains. One needed only to glance at Dagur to see what he prized. His biceps bulged dramatically. The veins in his toned forearms rippled as he clenched and unclenched his fists. His sinewy neck tensed, as it always did when he was upset. Gods, what an irritatingly strapping brute.
Viggo realized that he had been staring at Dagurâs bodyâand worse, Dagur had caught him staring. He gazed back, but instead of his usual salacious grin, he looked somewhat surprised.Â
Viggo huffed and waved a hand. âNo matter. Iâll get to the bottom of the Ulf situation. Youâre dismissed.â
Dagur hesitated. âSoâŚyou donât want me to do anything else? Like go back and double check with him orâŚ?â
âNo, Dagur. I want you to do as youâre told.â
Dagur grumbled to himself. He was still visibly upset, but sufficiently knocked down a peg. âFine,â he said through gritted teeth. He turned to leave but then noticed the ledger still laying on the ground. He pointed to it. âUhâŚViggo? Do you still want this?â
Viggo held out a hand and waited silently as Dagur picked the book up and handed it back to him. At least he had the decency to do that.
Viggo sat back down. âThereâs a good lad,â he said with a biting tone.
But Dagur hadnât sensed the mockery in Viggoâs voice. He gave a ridiculous grin. âUh, thanks?â
Viggo recoiled as he pulled the book back. Of course Dagur was arrogant enough to take a demeaning comment as flirtation. âThat wasntââ Viggo protested, âI didnât meanâ! Ugh, out! Just get out!â
Dagur gave the smallest smirk before turning to leave. Insufferable.
He did a little salute with two fingers, âYou got it, Viggo.â He pauses at the door. âBut let me know if I can be of use. Iâm at your service.â He winked.
Before Viggo could yell at him again, Dagur was already gone.
Summary: Viggo is running out of patience for Dagur's nonsense. Dagur takes every opportunity to drive Viggo mad. Then one day, Dagur proves to be of more use than Viggo ever anticipatedâŚ
