The Ministry of Education (MOE) yesterday said it will soon convene a public hearing to discuss on whether it will impose a ban on schoolchildren under the age of 15 using cell phones on campuses in response to calls made by lawmakers and environmentalists. EMF
The calls came after a recent study conducted by the World Health Organization (WHO)’s cancer experts classified radiation from cell phones as “possibly carcinogenic to humans,” and called for more research into the effects of frequent, long-term use of mobile devices.
Citing the recent survey results released by the WHO’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), Chen Jiau-hua , secretary-general of the Electromagnetic Radiation Hazard Protection and Control Association (TEPCA), asked to restrict young students using mobile phones in schools for health reasons. vidaband protects
She also urged the National Communications Commission (NCC) to request all mobile phone manufactures to clearly label the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) of their products to aid customers looking to purchase phones which have a low-radiation exposure. vidaband

The IARC’s survey released earlier this week evaluated more than 900 possible triggers of cancer since 1971, and found 400 to be likely or possible cancer-causing agents. EMF
