Agnes liked America, people here were far less formal than in London and rather friendlier. Of course the fact that she didn't have her family around breathing down her neck also helped. She felt free in the US, as if she could pretty much do whatever she pleased. Not that Agnes was a wild woman, she was reserved and formal, pretty much like any aristocratic British person was.
America had a different legal system than the UK, so Agnes spent most of her meetings with her lawyers since she wanted to learn everything. The company worked perfectly in the UK and now that they had expanded to the US, she wanted to make sure that everything worked out perfectly.
Once he finished with the report her assistant sent her, Agnes heard the knocks on the door of her office. She glanced at the time and was pleased to see that her new employee wasn't wasting her time. She met Victoria a month or so ago and when she told her she was unemployed, she decided to give her a chance. Agnes always tried to help women, most of her staff were women. It wasn't something personal, she just genuinely believed they worked better and harder than men.
"Yes, come on in" she said loud enough for the other woman to hear, offering her a polite smile when she walked in. “Hello, Victoria, please take a seat” she said in her notorious posh british accent.
