A portrait of our father was included in the 2021-2022 Soul Shot Portrait Exhibition showcasing portraits to the public and celebrating the lives lost to gun violence. The project pairs artists with the family using photos, stories and mementos of the victim to create the portrait. One Mint Julep from #theclovers was one of my fathers favorite songs so the artist, Nathalie Miller, used the lyrics of the song to frame the portrait. from @buzzfeednews - After the Florida school shooting comic book artist Pia Guerra was inspired to draw this powerful cartoon of Aaron Feis, the football coach and campus monitor, who died protecting students from the gunfire. The illustration depicts Feis being welcomed to heaven by all of the other student and teacher victims of previous school shootings. "I wanted to take the standard 'all these angels are in a better place' meme and turn it around a little, to show these wonderful, beautiful, brave lives...who should still be here," Guerra said.
