I had no idea it won that — I don’t really follow awards stuff for any medium. At least not closely, anyway.

But nah. It’s valid imo. Two reasons:

1.) Death Stranding’s soundtrack is actually p. fucking dope on its own, even if you don’t like the game/Kojima’s works in general or don’t even play video games. It’s still very enjoyable without the game. (Particular standouts for me are Sing to Me by Missio and Ghost by Alan Walker ft. AU/RA, among others.)

2.) Subhuman should count as a war crime and, to date, remains one of the (if not the) worst piece(s) of music I’ve ever heard in a game in the 20+ years I’ve been playing them. Even the version that actually appears in-game is just... well, tyg for the jukebox.
