That’s... a very apt description.
Over the last few months, I’ve realized that I’ve never gotten over my platonic breakup with my last best friend. I have a lot of really wonderful, amazing friends (and Ark himself is great!), but no one’s ever filled that hole, and it’s been aching more and more. It’s been nearly three years. I should be past this.
My oldest friend ghosted me in September. The trip we took together was awful, but I thought after the initial emotional ‘oh god this sucked ass why were you such a jerk’ was past, we’d talk about it and get over it and acknowledge the dynamic of our friendship has changed... but... she’s not answered any texts, emails or calls, and I’ve stopped trying.
I don’t know what biological niche this emotional attachment fills, or if there’s something wrong somewhere in my genetics that makes me want to super-bond with another person that is not my romantic/sexual partner, but I’m really having a hard time putting myself out there again for a new bff. :(
(and yeah the WRA discord is full of people that seem really nice, but I think I’m done trying. It’s like being in a crowded room where everyone is shouting, and if I can’t hear myself, how can I hear anyone else - or have them hear me? :( )
