The most frustrating thing about Sombra's new home was the limitations. 'You may hack harmless things such as alarm clocks or toasters up to three times a day', they said. For a woman whose entire existence revolved around technology, it was like cutting her off at the knee and asking her to stand. It was debilitating.
It forced the hacker to get creative, and conserve power. Her reach was diminished, her potential for leverage gone. All she had was the information from her home universe, which was all but useless against the powers-that-be in this accursed city. She wanted to think they were in cahoots with the Conspiracy she was originally after, but something told her it was much more than that, and far worse... But to what end?
The woman was uncharacteristically stony-faced, standing outside the window of a shop with various television screens inside. Raising her hand, Sombra brought up her interface and initiated her hacking protocols on one of the smaller ones. The screen buzzed in and out with purple static, her signature skull flashing across it. For a brief moment, Sombra had hope...
... And it was dashed when the channel merely started to play polka music and loop the staticky logo on repeat.
❝ Damn it. ❞
