“Not at all. Rhaena was always meant to marry someone from a house with whom we have poor history. That was unavoidable—there are few houses extant today who did not wrong the Targaryens, or who were not wronged by us. A Lannister was always a possibility, one which I would never hold against her. The betrayal came at the hand of our father, who had such little faith in Rhaena that he refused to let her take the throne she was meant to have in my stead, and instead sold her off and let her husband claim what was hers.

“And if we go back further, the true betrayal was made by me in choosing to leave. Had I stayed, Rhaena would never have been put in that position.”

“I would be surprised if they were completely fine given everything that has been happening. Rhaena’s kingdom has torn itself asunder as once-loyal families blame her for something that is in no way her fault. Her closest family and friends were stolen from her, causing her to fear they would never come back alive. And now she has lost her son as well, and faces the upheaval of her family and crown. Visenya was one of those kidnapped; that alone is enough to make a person very unwell. And she’s much more sensitive than she seems at times, so this entire affair cannot be easy for her.

“In short, I’m deeply concerned for them both. I wish I could do more for them.. Rhaena already knows I will do all within my power to help her and bring my nephew home. And I’m planning on checking in on Visenya soon.”

♛ TASK #6: Jaerys Targaryen – Modern AU ♛

“I’m sorry I can’t be what you want me to be. I’m sorry you couldn’t have the son you deserve.”

Everyone knows the Targaryen name and brand. The family predates many of the countries in which their factories reside and their products are sold. With the dissolution of the landed gentry, the Targaryens supplemented their hereditary fortune with business acumen beyond compare. First it was in designing aircraft for military use; then came automobiles, changing the game entirely with the original Targaryen sports car, the Balerion. Today, Targaryen is best known for their luxury cars and motorcycles, which are unparalleled on public streets and racetracks alike for their quality builds, naught-to-sixty acceleration time, and practically sinful levels of comfort.

Three years ago, Jaerys Targaryen vanished without a trace. His aging father had hoped to hand the company over to him soon, but for reasons unknown, the heir to Targaryen Enterprises refused his calling. He left only a letter asking that his sister Rhaena be given control of the company; breaking off his engagement; and apologizing for not being a better son. In those three years, Jaerys sought to rediscover himself and shape an identity outside of “being a Targaryen”. He backpacked around the world with virtually no money to fall back on, gaining a better and broader understanding of life and the modern world. With equally little fanfare, he returned a short time ago a different man. Without Rhaena to take over upon their father’s death, Targaryen Enterprises fell under the control of a Board of Directors who were surprised but pleased that Jaerys had returned to take his place.
